astraea82's Journal, 11 March 2011

So I just got through yet ANOTHER office party. It was someone's birthday and there were cakes and pastries galore. One person thought healthly and actually brought some grapes. I didn't even want those, though, b/c I had already had my fruit for the day. But I took some just to be sociable. Again, I give myself a pat on the back for making it through that. That was the third time this week my eating habits have been under attack!

It's funny how this new way of eating has changed my tastebuds, though. I am so used to the more savory foods now, that whenever I eat something sweet it really shocks me. Like even those grapes just seemed too sweet. I guess it's good that I am adapting!

I am also happy because now my boyfriend is starting to eat healthy too! I used to feel bad b/c whenenver I went over to his place or we ate out he would have to buy/make special food just for me. Now that he's changing his habits, though, us eating together should be easier.

Congratulations :) I knew I hit a tipping point when "temptations" like that stopped being...well, tempting. I look at cake now, I see a pile of sugar and refined flour and shortening. It's just not appealing - I don't even think "that would taste good," I think "that would taste sweet"...and then I can find something else that's sweet which might actually have some nutrients involved. Sounds like you've got the same mindset, I think...and that has to be a good recipe for long-term success. :)
