So, I got my band adjusted yesterday. Previously to this I've pretty much been able to eat the amount of food I want without any adverse effect. My doctor put in another 1.5ml of saline, so that's a total of 4.5ml of saline in the band. The band itself will only hold 10ml of saline. So, i'm almost halfway there. My weight loss has been slow but steady. Today i wasn't able to eat much, a protein shake, a yogurt and a pear...so i went to Walmart. My hungry belly is telling me that I desperately need donut holes. So, i put them in my cart and continue shopping. By the time I get to check out, i'm starting to feel a little hypoglycemic, although I took my blood sugar while i was waiting in line and it was 128, which I thought was a little high for what little i've eaten. I get to my car. I'm accompanied by my ten year old son. We both want a donut hole. i take one and scarf it down, he does the same. We agree on 2 a piece and then we'll have to go home and make dinner. After I popped the second donut hole in my mouth and started to make short work of it, i felt a very uncomfortable pain in my chest. This is letting my know that the first donut hole is not going through the band into my stomach. I still have half of the second in my mouth and at this point i'm not quite sure what to do with it. So, i chew thoroughly and swallow. The pain gets worse. Now I just want to get home. I start to drive, trying to burp or something to get some relief. My son is getting concerned. I get off the highway and onto the backroad. It's only a mile to my house from there. I can't even make it. My son hands me the Walmart bag that the donut holes were in and i'm pretty sure I got one up right then and there. I make it into the driveway just barely, before jumping out of my car and getting rid of most of the first one. It took about 20 minutes for the pain to subside. My question is this...do i have to count the calories of the donut holes, as calories in and do they also count as calories out, or do I just not add them into my equation at all??
I am happy that this happened though, because i never actually felt restricted before, and now I feel like this is what I went through all the agony of surgery and recovery. Now i just have to stop being a dumb ass and listen to my doctor. Chew thoroughly and slowly. Keep to mostly liquid for a few days. All in all, it was a good learning experience!
