Ruhu's Journal, 23 April 2014

I'm feeling good this morning with several good pieces of news to share!

Yesterday was my 100th day eating added sugar free. My health coach had suggested counting the days, and while I've had my missteps along the way, I'm thrilled to be at 100 days and even more so that this way of eating is agreeing with me so well for now. As many of you know, I've had issues with sugar forever and have struggled trying to figure out the best way for me to handle it -- eat it or not, in some form of moderation, in what forms, etc. But, avoiding added sugars mindfully is what's worked the best so far and feels so right for now. Knowing I can eat it at any time, but am choosing for now not to has been the answer, and that I've been able to do so for 100 days reinforces that for me. I've been on quite a sugar journey, and feel so much more at peace with it, my WOE in general & life, with an intention that works for me!

Even with the stress of my Mom's health issues last week, traveling & eating out meals for the entire week, and the misstep with sugar while I was away, my weight stayed the same in the range I'm hoping is relatively easy to maintain. While I know I am much more than any number on the scale, it is important to me to find a healthy range that I can maintain while living & enjoying my life.

Mom continues to improve and her therapists think she'll be able to go back to her apartment sometime next week. She's so eager to get there. They are evaluating her again on Friday with the intention of determining the level of care she'll need to move back.

I'm off to workout shortly, and have a mani/pedi booked for this afternoon -- a 100 days celebratory treatment! DS graduates next month and I also want to shop for a new outfit for his graduation as another celebratory item, but will wait to do so after my monthly & quarterly book work is doneā€¦ which I'm not going to think about today. There's always tomorrow, right?

So today, I'll start in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And throughout this one celebratory day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so very grateful for each of so very special you, my family & IRL friends, my 100 days added sugar free, my Mom's continuing improved health, a mani/pedi, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

Congratulations. You should get a chip or something for that :-) But a nice new outfit is better. Never thought of counting 'days'... I tend to say things like 'only one *x* episode in the past *x* months. I lose count; I"m not as good at charting and recording as you. So many things I've gone x days w/o doing: Midnight munching, cutting my thumb, purging... yeah, I'm inspired. I'm going to start a tracking chart.

100 days of sugar free is amazing in itself! good job! I don't consider myself someone who eats a lot of sugar because I don't have sugar EVERY day, but it's still hard when you try to do a 30 day challenge, and you realize there's a little in yogurt and some places you didn't really think of!
