It is supposed to get up to 70+ degrees here in Minnesota today. I have my doubts...considering that every few miles there are these ice covered bodies of water called lakes... That ice leads to a mighty cool wind. But anything over freezing is a welcome temperature! I think grilling is on the menu for supper tonight. Pork steak with hash brown patties. I have to run into the store before supper...so maybe some fresh asparagus for the hubby. Anybody out there have instructions on how I can cook hash brown patties on a grill? I was thinking of putting a cast iron skillet on the grill grate with the patties in the skillet with a bit of olive oil. The asparagus I was going to serve fresh or just lay across the grates for a bit, but how long? As you can see I am going to try to use the grill more for cooking this spring, summer and fall. I know how to cook meat on there, but veggies I am completely lost... :(
PS>>>is there an activity on the list for running back and forth between your kitchen and an outdoor grill??? If not there should be!

Sounds yummy K! I understand the trips back and forth from grill to kitchen! I bought a thing from Walmart that is like a cookie sheet but it has holes in it and is perfect for grilling hamburgers because the meat does not fall between the grate. I bet something like that would be good for your hash brown patties. Also, I fixed a spaghetti squash the other day to have spaghetti sauce with and was great! So now I am going to try to fix patties out of it like hash browns and see how that turns out. Those squash are expensive though. BTW, you're in Minnesota with 70 predicted and I'm in west Tennessee with 66 expected. What is wrong with this picture????

I would have to agree on your cast iron pan over the grill for the hash browns, they will turn out best that way. Like Becky said you can get sheets that go over the grill and I think those are perfect for any type of veg. The asparagus I would toss in a little olive oil, salt and put right on the grill. A few minutes per side oughta do depending on how much crunch you like :-) I love love love grills lol. Enjoy this nice weather K, its about damn time!

Thanks Sarahald! I was thinking maybe...running? Becky nothing is wrong with this picture if you are in Minne"Snowta"! This is supposed to be the warmest temperature we have had in 6 months...I think we deserve it! Yo we are not sure how crunchy we would like it! We have not eaten it except for Dave tried some just fresh/cut up at his uncles funeral and he liked it with dip. I thought I should try cooking some for him...maybe less cooking time would be better in that case.

I'm with you K - grilling today is a great plan! I heard on the weather today that it's the first day in the 70s since 10/11/13 - 180 days! Crazy!

Guess they were center cut pork chops not steak...oh well...they were nummy! Hash browns ended up getting finished in the house...grill didn't work very well for those. The asparagus was still pretty firm when I finished it...ok...not great. Wind was too much to try to grill with. If it had been calm it would have been awesome!
