Ruhu's Journal, 13 March 2014

Winter has returned to CT, but only in frigid temps, so at least we avoided the snow that those north of us are getting. DH comes home late tonight. Originally he was skiing with the guys until Sat, but work calls so he'll get in late tonight & into the office tomorrow. Since he was originally not to get home late Sat afternoon, we have no plans for the weekend :), but will see his Mom for lunch or dinner on Sunday, and maybe have a date night Sat.

I'm feeling good, who wouldn't be after a fabulous hot stone massage yesterday -- if you haven't had one, they are amazing! And, I'm feeling especially good about staying my course gluten, lactose & sugar aware mindfully and in a 16:8 window when it agrees with my hunger. I'll workout this morning, then have an exciting afternoon -- not -- mammo & bone density tests.

Since giving up added sugar, I've been sleeping so much better, except on the weekends especially after eating dark chocolate and/or drinking wine. So, I switched to unsweetened carob instead of the chocolate & gave up alcohol for lent, and so far so good -- feeling great & sleeping well. Especially since returning from Utah & its time difference, I've been sleeping later… to 6 am the last few days & 5:15 this morning.

I'm still enjoying using my FitBit Force & hit my all time high in steps while in Utah. The day I downhill skied & we snowshoed to dinner, I got to 18,900 steps. Most days I either just barely or don't quite make it to the pre-set goal of 10,000 steps. Because of my exercise obsession, I always though make the active minutes goal of 30 minutes.

But before I get active today, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And through this one day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so grateful for each of super special you, my family & IRL friends, following a course that feels so right, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

Morning Ruth. Came here first because you said you weren't going to exercise until later so sharing coffee with you :) You sound wonderful. Stone massage - mmmmm. Mammo and bone density - will, gotta get maintenance done to keep you in tip top health. We are absolutely frigid here in the frozen north. Heartily sick of it for sure. Glad you have no snow, just the cold. We are overjoyed to have both. Enjoy your last day of 'freedom' and fingers crossed for date night on the week-end. Hugs xxxxx

What would it feel like to have an obsession with exercise? I dare to dream(seriously, it sounds awesome). I borderline like the treadmill so maybe I will get to that level one day (one step at a time). It sounds like a nice peaceful weekend ahead. And perfect timing for winding down before the next big trip. Enjoy a great day!

I haven't had a hot stone massage in a while - don't know why I never considered it during the really harsh freezes.. probably because I never went anywhere during those. I'm scheduled for a massage today; something to consider.
