rsshilli's Journal, 14 January 2011

I'm really happy about how well this diet is going. I think writing in my journal and commenting on other journals is really helping me. I'm only eating 2000-2300 calories.

My wife is a really bad diet buddy. She has 1 pound to lose for every 10 pounds I need to lose. Last night we went out for dinner. I was really temped to get the Fish & Chips but knew I should get the Asian chicken salad. I looked them both up on my phone - 910 calories and 500 calories respectively. I was proud and sad at the same time that I chose the salad. It was surprisingly tasty. My wife ordered the Pizza. It came with fries so she gave them to me. Normally that would have been totally okay but the last thing any dieter needs is people handing them french fries. I ate them.

"Desert honey?", she asked.

"No, definitely not".

So she turns to the waiter and orders a chocolate brownie with ice cream for herself. That's okay, I guess. Then she eats half and gives the other half to me. "Do you want this? I'm just going to throw it out otherwise." Ahhhhh!!!!!!

At least the brownie tasted as good as it looked.

Man, that's difficult! Hopefully, you two can discuss her sweetness being a deterrent to your goals. It's hard enough for us to remain on our diets, strictly... but even when we don't sabotage ourselves, it's worse when other people step in to do it, lol. My hubby and his Nutter Butter bars are like you and your wife. I can pretty much resist them, but then he has peanut butter breath, lol. I finally think I get through to everyone in the house about my seriousness on my diet, and it has made a world of difference! Have you and Mrs. Rss talked about your seriousness? Maybe ask her for her help, including helping monitor what you eat and/or order while you are with one another (as opposed to at work, of course). Ask her to help you keep an exercise regime. If she's a part of it, it may make her think twice about asking you to partake in the ooey gooey delightness that is a brownie :)
