kingkeld's Journal, 18 January 2014

Good morning!

I finally got some sleep. Well, I slept like 7 hours, but it makes a HUGE difference.

I called my doc yesterday, and he prescribed some very mild stuff that would help me fall asleep. I'm very leary about taking stuff like that, but I really needed sleep. Badly.

So, I slept. I'm up early, 7 AM, because I'm working at he gym today. I feel like a total zombie. I'm not sure whether it's the medicine or just me from sleeping properly.

...

My scale is being a jerk today. I did great yesterday, had 1800 calories and burned 2800. I'm down 300 grams, but UP several percent of body fat. Gah!

I see it connected with very low read on fluid (and thus also muscle) so it's probably not all that bad.

The food choices were sane yesterday, too.

I had leftover beef and veggies for lunch. I had two apples and two protein bars for snacks. And we had spareribs and a baked potato for dinner, just as planned. I weighed and measured everything at the restaurant. 200g of meat. 160 grams of potato.

...

Today, as I am working and getting ready to go, will be a short journal.

Just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm better, and doing okay. I feel a lot better now that I slept.

...

I want to than everyone for your very supportive comments. It made a huge difference to my day yesterday. Thank you, everyone.

...

Today, I'm gonna relax after work. I can see in my predicted activities that my calorie burn is gonna be acceptable, I can see I have spare calories I can use, and I'm gonna enjoy the heck out of it.

I think I want to buy some "movie-candy" to munch on tonight. I haven't done that for weeks, and I think today is a good day for it.

...

Seeing that my body fat percentage slowly IS going up, I keep thinking that I probably AM eating a little too much. It's a very slow increase, but it's there. The trend over longer time is ALSO there.

I'm keeping a keen eye on it.

I'm not gonna change it right now. There are so many other factors at play right now, so changing it won't really make me able to conclude much.

I'm stressing. I'm rebuilding muscle. I have trouble sleeping. I'm getting back into my normal rhythm. I have the heart issue going on. A LOT of things. So now is not the time to change it.

I will patiently wait until February 1st, as planned, and then look at the trends.

If need to change then, I will simply put in the factor on my calorie burn, so it doesn't award me all that many calories. I will simply make 1000 calories burned count as 900 in my calculations, and adjust that way.

But for now - steady as she goes. It's hard to do, when you see the numbers fluctuate.

...

Today, I'm thankful for:
- Sleep!
- Coffee!
- Weekend!
- CANDY TONIGHT! lol

Have a great weekend, buddies!

Keld, are you limiting your coffee to mornings? Any chance that coffee is part of your restless sleep?

I was told to eat a handful of almonds before bed. It's worth a shot. I take a magnesium citrate before bed and I sleep well and I even have dreams

Melatonin is excellent to assist with sleep. The lower the dose the better and if possible, time released. Natural.

Glad you finally got in some sleep. Maybe tonight you can rest better, also. Have fun at the gym today. :) "Movie candy" ... hmmm! I see a movie tonight in your future. :)

I think you're right to not panic, and stick to the plan. There's a lot going on, and until the dust settles, it will be better to make incremental changes, if any. Your plan is solid, work it!
