VondeLynn's Journal, 09 December 2008

Well, not really a shocker there, I gained two. I have felt really bloated the last few days, so I hope a lot of it is water weight. I am pledging to myself to buckle down and get back to recording all of my food. I started off this AM ok, but I know the last couple of days haven't been so easy. I pick up Market Day (PTO fundraiser for local elem. schools) today and I had stocked up on meats so I don't have any other excuses to not do what I am supposed to be doing.

I am going to get off my ass and at night when Kevin goes to bed, I am going to do my Yoga. Tuesday's I watch a couple of shows, so I have no excuse not to do it on Wednesday. Friday is my office's Christmas party, but I think if I stick to cheeseball on celery, the meats that my boss makes, and other protein sources, I'll do fine. I am even going to get to the store and bring my own celery so I know I have some and again, get rid of the excuses. People just keep telling me that I picked a bad time of the year to do this, but I say why should I have to wait until it is convenient for me. I have personally noticed that I am trying to eat the right foods when it comes to the party scene, so I think I am at least trying.

I'll talk to you all later this week, have a good mid-week!

I have found that there really is no good time of year to diet. There is always some excuse to not eat right! And people will always say that to you!!! Sounds like you have a plan - and that is the path to success. Good luck!! You can do this!!

You are right not to wait to get focused because it is NEVER convenient to start a diet. This is the BEST time because when you start you are more aware and focused. Even if you can focus enough not to GAIN during the holidays you are doing better than those who aren't even trying and you can start the year off saying "I didn't gain during the holidays! :) You have a great plan, just stick to it and you'll be fine. Just an idea I got from a buddy of mine on FS, keep some small weights or just use canned foods for weights while you are watching your TV shows. If you work your arms during all the commercials in a 1 hour show, you get 20 minutes of strength training in, plus you won't be looking for a snack during the breaks. I find it really helps keep my arms toned.

I know what you mean about people asking why you decided to diet during this time of year... and the answer is simple: because we can! There is no law saying you have to eat Christmas cookies. In reality, Christmas cookies are just regular cookies shaped like trees, and if you could resist cookies other times of the year, you can do it now! :D

"In reality, Christmas cookies are just regular cookies shaped like trees, and if you could resist cookies other times of the year, you can do it now!" I love that... I'm stealing it for my holiday party today! =) Thanks for all the encouragement!!!
