So I"m getting kind of nervous..I"m on phase 2 of the hcG diet...which is 500 cals a day...very restricted food list. I'm following the diet...no probs. Have lost 16 lbs in 18 days and only have 12 more days on phase 2. I really hope to lose 11 more lbs...but will be happy if I only lose 6 lbs...its something. In Phase 3 I can add it more calories 1000-1200 and add in a lot more food choices....just no starch or sugars. That isn't a problem..I was going to paleo anyway and that is the same idea. I'm supposed to do this for 3 weeks to stabilize (reset my metabolism). These 3 weeks are all about maintaining my last day of phase 2's weight. I've read several blogs about it and if you follow the "no starch or sugars" rule I should be fine...also need to watch my caloric intake. On phase 4 I can gradually add back in some starches and sugars (with paleo I shouldn't have to do this...maybe a sweet potato, but not much else.)....the only days I do plan on going off paleo are thanksgiving and christmas...there are just some special holiday foods that I want a taste of.

Now here is my big worry...I'm not scared of maintaining, I'm scared of not being able to lose any weight again for a long time. I was hoping to get off of hcg and then continue to lose weight slowly...I didn't realize I had to do a 3 week maintenance period. What if after those 3 weeks I still can't lose? I plan on exercising and eating healthy, but what if the weight just won't come off now? I see that most people that do hcG do several rounds. I DO NOT EVER WANT TO DO HCG AGAIN!! I want to go back to being a normal human being and lose my 2 lbs a week through diet/exercise.

I've heard some troubling things about hcG. I read from an earlier post of yours that you are under a doctor's care. That is good, it's important. The thing that worries me (I hope I don't come across as preachy) is the rate at which the weight is lost. We didn't gain the excess weight overnight, and it probably shouldn't be lost overnight. Healthy weight loss is 1-3 pounds a week. I haven't read long term studies, but once the weight is lost how successful is maintaining the weight? Please just be careful, radical diets can be dangerous.

No I didn't gain it overnight, but I did gain over 20 lbs in two months...that is extremely fast!! I know I'm stressing my body by gaining and losing so fast...that is why I'm really taking it easy on the activity level. This diet has been a lesson to me and I won't be doing anything like it again. I'm also ready to make a life change...i've always lost weight then gone back to my bad habits and gained it all back plus more...can't do that anymore.

I'm with you on not going through this again. I've been on a yo-yo rollercoaster ride the past 25+ years with my weight, and I'm tired of it. It's more work losing it than it is to just be healthy and active in the first place! I'm done with it, sick of the extra weight burdening me down and making me sick and tired all the time. It feels so much better being lighter! I'm glad we're going through this weight loss thing together- keep at it, be careful with the rate of loss, remember "diet" is a 4-letter word, you'll get to a healthy place where you want to be and feel 1000% better as a result!
