cocobutt's Journal, 08 November 2010

I need to take up a calorie-burning fun activity. Walking just isn't enough and I hate gyms.

8:50pm We've been celebrating Mr Coco's b'day now for 3 days in a row. I think he would feel hurt if we didn't do something on The Day, so I cooked a nice dinner and got a couple of pieces of b'day cake from the wedding cake bakery down the road. At least I didn't get a whole cake... slices were plenty. I made roasted beets, sauteed kale greens, and pan grilled chicken-apple sausage. It was pretty delicious if I do say so myself.

I know what you mean. As I lose weight, walking is just too easy. Maybe some kind of energetic dancing. Dancing really is a good workout.

Salsa lessons! Even beginner lessons get the heart going, and it's fun! @Coco, where do you live?

If you like to walk, it can be enough if you up the intensity by using intervals. (Just read it this morning.);) After you have warmed up, go for 30 seconds as fast as you can to up your heart rate. Then your normal pace for 4 minutes. Do that throughout your walk with a goal of several intervals. It will increase your burn more than double without a lot of stress on your body.

Does your cable company have OnDemand? I have a pretty wide selection of exercise videos I can choose from so that's something to think about. I'm looking into getting a Wii because there's a game called Just Dance or something like that I'd be willing to play with my kids. From what I hear around here there are some good exercise games for Wii.

Thanks for all the suggestions, buddies! @Rune, I love to play at dancing, but I'm extremely uncoordinated. My daughter has tried to teach me how to do the worm for 2 decades. Can't do it. But I love trying. @Runnette, I'll message you about where I live. @Datadoll, I think I read that info recently too. I do include a steep hill in my daily walk, but I probably should add some jogging in there for better cardio. @Kstub, I bet we do have OnDemand. We've put off upgrading our cable, but maybe we should look at that. And the Wii is something I may be dropping hints about for Christmas. ;)
