jsfantome's Journal, 20 August 2013

This is the last week of the summer for my youngest son..headed back to college next Monday. It's so great to see your kids happy and eager to move forward in their lives...but it's bittersweet. Last year was hard, this year seems harder. I think over the course of this year he is going to look for an 'Internship' for next summer - and it will likely be 'away from home'. Will this be the last time he officially lives at home? A mother's heart is the only one that can cry tears of sadness and tears of joy at the very same time!

Thinking of taking him shopping today - early - then off to the beach for the afternoon. Gonna get hot around these parts this week...might as well enjoy the beautiful seashore (since we can) - and pretend like we're on vacation!!!

Hope you are all well. I am doing fine on my eating. Minimal exercise still, but amping up the activity by 'walking on the beach' etc... just not a week full of trips to the gym. I did make it there twice..but no real habit to speak of yet.

Much Love.

Enjoy your son, my friend! I'll be crying those happy/sad tears with you over the next week. Being a Mom has been the best thing that's ever happend to me, but the hardest job in the world at times. As you so wisely said, it's brought me the most joy, most anxiety, much anger at times, most laughter and I've cried the most tears over.... And of course I wouldn't trade a minute of it! Xoxox

Enjoy your last week with son at home. Do things that slow time downnnnnnnnnn My oldest turns 43 this Friday. My youngest is 39. Both sons have made me so happy and so very proud of them. Six grand kids later and 44 yrs of marriage. Time went too fast I read the coolest thing a young man said on the internet last night. He asked his 86 year old dad did he feel like time flew by? He said his dad told him if he is blessed to live to be 100 time will have flow just as fast. He felt this in his mind. I like to watch old movies. They really help slow time down for me. When I think back to the day I married, to today, I am blown away at just how fast 44 years has passed. Hoping the next 44 go a little slower. Good luck everybody This war of pealing layers of ourselves away will be successful! Just Never Ever Give Up! NEVER! No Matter What! We count :)

Enjoy this time with your son. While it's only natural to go the "what if..." route with your youngest child, remember to not borrow trouble. Who knows what this next year will bring....maybe an internship, maybe not; perhaps a different plan, perhaps not....and on it will go. One thing's for certain...most plans change! As for the gym....good for you going as much as you did! ALL exercise counts!! If you can get some by walking on the beach, isn't that a whole lot more enjoyable/fulfilling???!!! :)
