This is my success story. I am posting it here because FS fails. I am really disappointed in FS right now.

When I started my weight loss journey I was miserable. To make matters worse, standard dieting and exercise was proving to be less than effective. I went to the doctor and they tried to push me into bariatric surgery. I REALLY didn't want to go there.
So I asked them "What is it specifically that makes bariatric surgery successful? What about a smaller stomach makes you lose weight." They responded "Essentially it forces you to only be able to consume 700-800 calories a day." So that gave me my action plan, I thanked them and left the office.
I am a vegetarian, have been for almost 7 years. I began searching for the most nutritionally dense low calorie vegetarian foods I could find. I made a requirement of never eating more than 3g of sugars in any meal. I decided that eating 4 meals a day at minimum would be best so each meal had to be under 200 calories.
My diet for over nine months was 800 calories a day, it mainly consisted of spirutein shakes and protein bars. I made sure to eat one "real" cooked meal a day. I use a lot of vitamins. I worked out, cardio only twice a week. The weight started melting. Now that I am at my goal weight I am going to focus on maintenance and building up some muscle to fill all this loose skin :)

I am VERY happy for you that you found your motivation and what DID work for you. Thank you for sharing your story on FS. I am sorry that FS didn't work for you. It helps me to "remind" myself about my goals and gives me a place to rant AND gloat. FS is only a tool and it is what you put into it. Keep up your good work for your health. :)

Amazing story - thank you for sharing it here. It is so mind boggling to realize you lost 200lbs in a year. If you don't mind I do have a couple of follow up questions but completely respect if you choose to not answer. Did you continue to see a physician to keep tabs on your health through this loss? Do you mind sharing the list of supplements and how you feel they benefited you? Applauding you - such an amazing transformation.

Feel free to look at my diet mamabear. The main trick is water.n Every time I got hungry between meals I would drink a glass of water. It made my stomach feel full and then I would go distract myself with other things. As for supplements, I take a very heavy multivitamin Solgar V75. 1g of C, some choline and inositol, chelated magnesium (for regularity).

Thanks Sav - how did you determine that mix of supplements? Is that what would have been reco'd w/the surgery? I'm on the fence right now - wondering if I could do what you did - go really low cal to shed the rest of the weight and recover physically from there or just keep doing what I'm doing slowly.

I just did a lot of online reading about what vitamins I absolutely needed.
