davidsprincess's Journal, 01 May 2020

Today was the last day I am weighing in until June 1st. (If I was reading this on someone else's journal- I'd be thinking- Yeah- nobody gives a shit) 😂 Anyhow- I'm going to pretend this is important stuff. I am completely intrigued by groatmeal not having a scale to weigh on until it is delivered mid-month and so she is just going to do a mini-challenge until it arrives (Or something to that affect but as discussed yesterday... my memory is not so great- unless I want to remember something Diablo pissed me off with 20 years ago- then it's total recall) Anyhow-back to the point- I think that what I do when I weigh in, and the reason that I have so many ups and downs- is because I look at it and I am ok with it being anywhere from 178 to 185 and I think when it is lower, I end up eating 2500-3000 calories and when it's high, I lower my calories again. Kinda crazy that since December I have not really had a significant loss and just keep maintaining. So I am going to do my very best and surprise myself June 1st. I hope to be well into the 170's- not just teetering with the same 5 pounds. If I feel like I am starting to screw up, I'll definitely start the daily weigh-ins again but I want to change it up and do something a little differently. Maybe this will get me motivated.🤷🏻‍♀️ I'll pretend I'm going to win a million dollars. Maybe I'll post a pic June 1st and you can see how I chopped off my hair... my quarantine haircut and boxed dye.💇🏼‍♀️(My hair is dark brown but my emoji is only offered as a blonde) :) Still plan to record every bite!! This sounds like a farewell letter- it's only farewell to the daily weigh ins. :P

Mini challenges are fun, especially now. Best thing about Covid cuts, when ya have curly hair, a mistake isn’t noticeable, unless it was cut too short lol. No bangs allowed right now!! 😂😂♥️💜💚

Right- curls hide everything! ❤ And yes- you have to cut it dry if you don't want to be caught off guard by the curling up when it dries and next thing ya know- oops... but to be honest- it's pretty short. :)

Very good approach. I look often but it is just relative - I still eat the same.

I hate my scale. But that’s because it’s so truthful it hurts.

Yay we’ll do it together! I have found it very motivating for the most part. Struggling a bit here and there but almost every day still under my calorie limit. Good luck, I think you can totally do this! Plus it’s just nice to switch it up occasionally.

Yes, Goatmeal- ever since you posted it- it has been on my mind- I just was way too excited to see your progress so I started thinking I should do the same. Wonder how many days I'll weigh in out of habit.

Also you joining in has given me a bit of a boost, so thanks! 💪

You have just described the last 2 years of my life. Prior to getting my own scale, I weighed in weekly, was happy with any loss and was excited to record it. Then I'd work hard toward the next week's weigh in. Now I hop on the thing all day long.

I think I shall join you.

Kristineeb... It's hard to not weigh! Harder than I thought! I just got up to pee and I had to fight the urge but I do think it's making me not try as hard as I should to lose. Guess we'll see June 1st. 👍🏼🤸‍♂️

Ok danana! 🤗 My luck it'll be like 600# life when they say they've done great and then gain. I'm going to shoot for 173-175.

I did Noom for three months before joining here. Got used to weighing in every morning. Not sure I could not. But you are an inspiration, perhaps all I need is a little adjustment time

I know Mandy- I have weighed every day for over a year. Killed me to not get on this morning because I know it would be a couple pounds lower. Anyhow- I am excited to see what happens. Thanks, Lindi Lush.

I average everything overtime. Those daily fluctuations to me only create stress that info not need. I have a 10 dollar old dial scale -- no desire for one that measures in traffic s of a pound. Scales often lie as you may be losing fat and gaining healthier muscle mass. Muscle weighs much more than fat for the same volume. A great guage is how you feel, your stamina, how your clothes are fitting. Me right now I am feeling flabby so it back working this old body.

DP-when I first started FS I weighed in every day, and still want to, but found the daily up and down made me stressed out, especially when FS said, "you are losing weight at a rapid rate" (when I lost a pound overnight) like that's a bad thing, losing weight from day to day..so now I force myself to wait a couple days before I check and record on my Challenge. So I applaud you for waiting a whole month. That's tough, but hopefully less stressful!

I don't weigh in daily. I want to, but I only use it as a reward. If I feel good about how things are going, I step on the scale. If I go overboard with food/drinks I don't get to weigh in until I get my act together. Just a mental trick I've been doing for a while. Whether or not it's helpful is TBD.

Yeah- Tim- that would be a good idea but my husband uses it and he'd be like WTF. I think i can Definitely not weigh- for me it is such habit that by having to go through the trouble of taking it out and putting it on the floor- it would give a second to remember that I'm not supposed to weigh. But I don't think I'll struggle with it to the point that I would give in. Of course this is only day 1. hahaha. I'm feeling strong. :) I never find the daily weigh-ins to be stressful- however- that being said-I have really had to work on not explaining every loss or gain to the whole FS community because it really is uncomfortable to post sometimes- in that regard. That's why a majority of the time I do not respond to any comments on my daily weights. Melissa- you seem to be doing really well!

I think it is a great idea. I will try to do the same. I just got done working my overnight shift. I would not even drink a cup of coffee because I had to go home and weigh myself. I think this will relieve a lot of stress.
