Down another two pounds as the weather cools down more and more.

I get downtown and realize the Calgary Stampede starts today! Wow 14 days to the day from when the worst natural Disaster in history hit our City and they're raring to go! Way to go - I'm so proud of my City!!

Along with the Calgary Stampede comes limitless free Pancake Breakfasts around the city - including the first one downtown today.

How can you say no to free breakfast?!?!

So I ended up with two pancakes with strawberries and a dollop of fresh whipped cream and an apple juice - and walked the last km to my office. (There WAS bacon and sausages, but I turned them down).

I'm now sitting in my office after sharing with everyone about the first free breakfast downtown (and hearing everyone grumbling they have to walk a WHOLE KILOMETER... OMG!), and nibbling on the super yummy pancakes.

Two girls looking at me like "hah she blew her diet!" and me thinking "hey, it's one week out of an entire year, and I have four free breakfasts out of it all... why the heck not".

So YAHOO - let's get into the Stampede mood!

I would love to extend an invite to everyone who lives near Calgary to come on down to the Stampede 101 - we had it this year regardless of Hell or High Water! Lets show you some of our City's Pride!!

Oh man... the pancake breakfasts. That's one of the things I used to have a love-hate relationship with during Stampede! I was usually pancaked out for another year by the end of it LOL

That's the good thing, after having enough pancakes you don't want to see another one for a year hehe.

EXACTLY. Also, I hope you were fortunate enough not to be displaced... my sister lives in the East Village and only JUST got to go home YESTERDAY. Scary stuff. But I am really impressed by all the relief and clean-up efforts. Nenshi especially deserves a medal of some sort.

Bravo on the weightloss and on recognizing that one plate of pancakes does not ruin all the progress you've made! I admit I chuckled at your mentioning that your co-workers were griping about walking 1km to get pancakes. A whole kilometer?!?! Oh the humanity! Personally, I've never been a big fan of pancakes, but the sausage and bacon would be the challenge for me. While I'm not a Calgarian, I am very impressed by the recovery efforts and proud of you all for making it through such a trying time. Enjoy the stampede!!

We were very fortunate and lived in a neighborhood out of the way. We have some friends who were displaced/needed a hand with the flood issues in their homes, but luckily they were some of the first allowed back home. I agree - I wasn't a Nenshi voter at first, but happy we got him! I am amazed at what a wonderful Mayor we have - He got right in there personally visiting each area and lending a helping hand and offering any support he could, on top of that keeping us all in the loop of what's going on - my boyfriend loved that he wasn't afraid to show up on national television in a t-shirt and sweats! He's also not afraid to speak his mind (e.g. Nenshi Noun) hehe. I'm hoping he runs next term, because I believe he'll be voted in again hands down.

Glad you are safe and dry! And yes, "Nenshi Noun" is my new favourite insult. ;)
