worm2butterfly2012's Journal, 23 April 2013

well, today was the first day after getting the infection that the redness seems a little improved. I called the doctor yesterday to let them know what was going on--redness still there, but hard lump is softer. They decided to keep me on antibiotics for a total of 2 weeks. I was encouraged this morning when I saw that the redness was slightly improved. I started soft food today and boy was I glad. My caloric intake increased a little, but I'm still not up to 1400 calories. That will take some time before I can handle that much food in a day. I'm worried that once I start work that there will be days that won't allow me to eat a meal slowly like they want me to. I guess I will have to keep protein bars on hand in those situations. I'm starting to plan for going back to work next week. One of the issues I have now is to watch that I'm getting enough fluid in, so I'll have to keep a water bottle with me at all times to sip on. I've had a couple instances of vomiting, but they were related to eating too fast or too much. I'm still learning to pay attention to my stomach and how much I can tolerate. I do need to practice eating more slowly though. One thing that has been nice today is REAL food and not the mush I've had to eat recently. In two weeks I'll be on regular food. That will be another adventure.

Butterfly, keep close track of the little milestones. Everystep. I spent 4 hours walking around a local zoo, sat only acoupletimes, because I was waiting for someone. didn't eat while I was there either. I'm almost at the anniversarry of my surgery. Every accomplishment, adventure, etc. can move you ahead, and is a great motivator when plateaus hit. Congrats, I love your posts!

Glad you are starting to feel better. I think my hardest thing is eating slow when I am on the run. I hope your doc has a great support/educational group. I know many of them do. Your on your way!!! Congrads.
