Disclaimer: I am currently doing a SUPER LOW calorie diet. I am only doing this a couple of weeks, going off and on it as I see it developing. I need to emphazise that this is not something I generally recommend doing. This is something I am doing to learn about hunger, behavior and other things. If you do want long, sustainable weight loss, then you need to work with an efficient diet, like consuming about 500-1000 calories less than you burn on a daily basis. I'm hoping that we can all learn things from these experiments, but please be VERY cautious if you decide to try what I try. Consider me the lab rat. We don't know the results. :)

Good morning!

So, the bad news is that I most likely won't have a new low tomorrow. The good news is that the reason for that is that I have an amazing weigh-in today! :)

Yesterday, I was 86.1 kilos. Today, I am down 2.2 kilos - I am at 83.9 kilos. This is the lowest I have been since August 2012 - about 2 months after my surgery. Wow.

I have dropped 8 kilos this last month alone. Not bad.

So, yesterday was SO MUCH FRICKIN' FUN!

We went to the monthly jamsession, and we rocked the house - or, at least as much as the house can get rocked. :) These are mostly jazz people, and they get kinda scared when people crank up the volume and play rock music.

I had two firsts.

One, a surprise visit from my brother, who is a fellow musician. He actually ended up on stage with us, and we played Born To Be Wild. In the 43 years I've known the guy, we've never actually performed live together before. That was FUN!

The other - I got to play "It's A Long Way To The Top" by AC/DC with my Burnin' Live! drummer and singer - and a jamming guitarist and a guy on BAG PIPES! This was wild! It was so much fun.

Of course, playing with two musicians that we've never played with before, and people not fully knowing the song, we had to wing it, but it was ooodles of fun. I think it sounded great.

And yes - we recorded it. I have the audio file sitting on the laptop. I am waiting for a video of the thing, so I can syncronize it for (hopefully) much better sound quality, and then I'll share it.

If it sounds just half as good as it felt playing it, then it's a lot of fun.

The even cooler thing is that Bagpipes dude is up for more jamming. We are even talking about finding a few songs that we can play with Burnin' Live! for some live performances or something where he could join. It's something different for both him and us.

Maybe a rock'n'roll version of "My Heart Will Go On"? :) Never say never!

...

Yesterday was ROUGH on me, when it comes to the diet experiments, but of course it paid off in bundles. But damn. It was hard.

I can tell that the 600 calorie restriction is getting to me, mentally. Physically, my claim stays. I don't get hungry - and I think by far most of us do NOT get physically hungry. Ever. It's all in our heads.

I really feel that once we learn this, the we will much less prone to panic when it's an hour after lunch and we're "starving" and when we feel like we're gonna pass out or get headaches when we don't eat. It just doesn't work like that.

Now, it doesn't mean that the hunger we "think" we feel doesn't feel real. It's simply a matter of learning what it is and how we should react to it.

None of us are starving. If we were, then we wouldn't need FatSecret, right? :)

That being said, of course, I can't wait to get over today, and be done and over with my 600 calorie per day mission.

I have seen amazing results doing it, but it's not worth the bother. It's almost as efficient to go much higher in calories, and live a normal life while losing weight. I wouldn't recommend a permanent 600 calorie diet to anyone, ever.

So, if everything goes as planned, I should be green lighted for surgery tomorrow at the hospital.

If I do, then great. I will be done losing weight. I will jump into maintenance mode.

If I don't, I will do the very same, just with 1000 calories less five days per week. It will be pure luxury compared to the last three weeks no matter what.

The good thing is that I don't have any time limit as to WHEN I am supposed to have lost the fat that the surgeons wants me to lose. I think I'm there already, but if I am not, then we'll simply check again in a month or two - and I promise you that I won't keep doing 600 calories every day.

I will, of course, keep doing it twice per week. I will be trying out my new "rollercoaster diet". That's the natural next step for me, if I am to lose more weight. If I am to maintain, I will use the same idea. Two days of 600 calories per week, the rest of my RDI spread out on the last five days, but no Indulgence Day. The RDI will be high enough that I won't (shouldn't) need it.

...

Today is, of course, Cake day at work. I'm lucky I don't have to worry about it, as there is simply no room in my RDI. That solves everything.

Also, today, I really want to push it to make it to a potential new lowest weigh-in tomorrow, though it's highly unlikely that I can reach one. Doesn't mean one can't try, right? :)

So, the game plan today is:

- Small slice of rye bread with a super thin slice of ham for breakfast (already eaten).
- A five kilometer walk before work.
- Two boiled eggs at work when I get there. It helped me stay full all morning yesterday, and I'm sure it will today again.
- A salad, super plain, for lunch. Nothing in there other than to make me feel satisfued.
- More work.
- Staff meeting about two kilometers from work. I will walk out there and back.
- More work (if I can be bothered).
- Home.
- Turkey and veggies for dinner. Very light meal.

Along the way I will be having oodles of water, coffee and tea.

Sounds like a plan.

Today, I am thankful for:
- The most fun night of the year last night! YAY!
- Last day on 600 calories today! YAY!
- Hopefully the last day in a weight loss program! YAY!
- Reaching a new low! YAY!

Have a great Thursday! Life is good!

Hey, check out the photo I posted on my journal on body fat percentage peeps! You might enjoy it:-) SO, I wish I could have been a FLY on the wall watching you jam with bagpipes!!!! Congrads on making your goal on the 600 calorie days! I think I am unintentionally on the Rollercoaster diet:-) I have set a calorie limit in my mind, and some days I am lower, some days I am more, and in general, it is a little rollercoaster, nothing real drastic, but I just go by hunger really. Can't wait to see the video!!! Like the new avatar!
