Day 434- So what is so hard about eating 'real food'? To be honest I have found it is easier to eat real food. When I look back at the recipes of the processed food, there were more steps in cooking that food. You may be able to pour it out of a box, but you had to do this step and another...... if it was pre-made, it tasted like it was pre-made.... (pizza in a box!) I will let you in on a big secret....................... real food is easier to COOK! The trick is to cook it in it's natural form! You don't need all that complex FAKE flavor everyone else tells you about... it tastes great in it's own form. Why add flavor to cover the flavor? That is what they do with fake food... just read any box, LOL. Today I eat things I would of never of a year ago. Why? Because a year ago, folks told me I was crazy if I ate the stuff I eat today and it tasted 'nasty'. Why is it as a culture we tell ourselves and others that if food is not 'fake' it is nasty? Why do we focus so much on what others think of what we eat? Why do we let others decide what we eat?

I have learned a lot in the past year, I no longer go with the crowd on more fronts than just food. I don't worry what others think when I say I like kale and I put in a lot of my meals. I don't worry about showing up at an event and not agreeing with the food options, I just pass on them and eat what I want when I get a chance. I don't get mad at my host or demand they conform to my menu... but if they ask, I tell them my thoughts on food without telling them they are wrong.

Life is easy, the trick is to move forward...........

I know I was thinking today after trying butternut squash for the first time ever... "Why didn't anyone introduce me to this. It tastes so good and I can't wait until tomorrow to eat more. Why have I missed out on this my ENTIRE life??? Crazy all the crap that I have been told was good compared to what I end up thinking is good."

people in the office constantly shake their heads when they see me eat my simple foods: a boiled egg, a steak & celery stick, chicken breast & kolrabi. My take on 'fast' food. But more often now they comment on the nice smell :)

Yep! I can't even begin to list the foods I used to think were digusting (basically all vegetables) that I now love. Always wondering how I went my whole life without eating them!

I have noticed others get far more stressed by my declining food than I do. Perhaps they are feeling judged, even though, like you I make clear this is just my choice and they don't need to fret about it.

I agree. You can't appreciate good healthy food when it's all covered up with a bunch of junk. I love brocolli! AND cauliflower! To me, they are like candy!
