I downloaded a calorie counter app and do 1200 mon-wed and 1600 thur-sun and work out 45mns a day thurs-sun logging your meals planning them sticking to them and drinking water works the first thing you have to keep in mind is its alright to fall off the wagon the key is getting back on track once that happens I rather fail at trying to lose weight and lose than to do nothing and gain Once you make up your mind make a plan find out what motivates you rather it be a free meal once a week or a type of desert once a week as an award for a good job or writing people like you on this website is what is going to motivate me I have to lose 70+ or fail trying as long as I lose weight and come back later and they have my size lol You can do it add me as a buddy I will personally motivate you daily or weekly plus it will engage me to put up or shut up

Kimberly, Losing weight is difficult even when you know what to do. It's really not that hard, burn more calories than you take in. (that is easier said than done) For the past few weeks I have really buckled down and got serious about my weight loss, There was a day when I looked down at the scale and it scared me. Lost 11.5lbs this month and I've been cooking REAL food, keeping away from ready made/processed items; and staying within 1500 calories per day average. I eat less calories during the week, so I can give myself one day to really eat what I want. My day is Sunday, as it's a family day and hard to stick to a diet with family and activities. What has really helped me is preparing all my meals a head of time. If I make something, before I eat it, I portion it out into individual servings putting what I can in the fridge or freezer for later and only eating what I've counted. All my meals are done this way and I know ahead of time what my calorie intake for the day is before it's even started.

Some good tips so far. My take: setting a Recommended Daily Amount here on FatSecret and logging everything you eat and exercise you take are great first steps; that will help you understand what the ins and outs are. It really helped me to figure out that 3500 calories down = 1lb in weight lost. I have personally found that moving to a much lower carbohydrate, high fiber diet combined with starting to exercise has helped me get on top of my weight by banishing the mid-afternoon cravings for food I used to have(I've lost 50+ lbs since last October going from 289->237). If you're not sure what carbohydrates really are, then think Rice, Bread, Sugary Drinks and snacks for starters. They're bad news for me, at least, and getting rid of a lot of them has really helped. Don't give up!
