Changing up some things this month and especially this last week. Trying to prioritize my life to be a better wife and mom while being the best me. That means instead of being at the gym at 6 p.m. after working all day and not getting home until 7:30 or 8 and leaving my kids to eat cereal or sandwiches...I am going at 6 a.m. It means springing out of bed at 5 with gym clothes ready, trading my workout time with my husband, heading out in the dark and cool (not too cold yet) mornings and working out with unfamiliar faces. And it means coming home at a normal time, making dinner, cleaning the house, checking the homework, walking the dog- all the things that I let go for quite awhile-making my Saturdays VERY busy. It was different over the summer- late dinners and no schedule were ok. We still spent time together and I stayed up a bit later. Now I am in bed and asleep by 9. It's a trade off for sure. Sacrificing what I prefer for what my kids need. I tried to tell myself that even when I am home, they are up in their rooms- so it doesn't matter. But I am noticing that they are downstairs with me now- when I cook or walking the dog with me after dinner. So I'm not absolutely loving the early morning exercise and I think it is making my weight loss look more slow- but I am busting my butt and have the place pretty much to myself... Just a lot of senior citizens doing cardio and a fat guy who keeps smiling at me. i don't think he has realized yet that I don't like people- particularly smiling people at 6:15 a.m. but I didn't smile back yesterday so I'll see if he got the hint. So that's where things stand right now- I miss my eye candy being at the gym with me- but I miss my kids more. Already 6:15 so I gotta get to it. Today is back day- 💕💪🏻😍

Get it mama! It sucks, but in the long run your kids will recognize and thank you for it! It's rough, but us mamas always have to change up our schedule to fit our families accordingly. While of course still taking care of ourselves first, especially to be the best mamas we can be. Have a fantastic day!

I remember the times my mother changed her schedule to be able to spend time with us. Good quality memories in the making.

Nice adjustment DP...quick question though, have you and D ever thought of setting up a gym at home? My better half (ex Pilates & TRX instructor) has her own studio setup at home and I have mine (bike trainer, elliptical, free weights, etc), it is SO very convenient! We started small as a supplement to the gym and studio and it just kinda grew until we stopped going to the gym. Convenient and less time wasted, It does take up space though...

Just a suggestion from an older Mother for what it is worth ;) How about being flexible with the work out time at the gym every other day trading with the husband? Also, maybe you could convince your kids to go on walks with you? I know when my son was little we use to walk a lot together and he loved the time with me. Good Luck it is a struggle to fit everything in for us working Moms!

Thanks for suggestions. Steven we have a handful of workout equipment from stationary bikes to dumbbells, etc... I'm way more motivated when out of the house for whatever reason- though videos for different cardio at night is sometimes fun with the kids.

Red fox... I want to go every day to the gym so alternating every other day isn't an option. They walk with me sometimes but it definitely isn't raising the heart rate. That's more just to get the dog out for a walk and hear the latest middle school and high school gossip /drama. On weekends I can lift with my husband but through the week this is what is going to be. They are old enough to be alone but I was a latch key kid and it wasn't fun. I missed my mom and she had to work constantly to keep us barely above poverty. I have the luxury of setting my work schedule so I need to make the most of it. Plus my cooking sucks but they still appreciate it more than cereal or lunchables. Thanks for your suggestion! I think I gave the impression they are very young but they are 11 and 14. 😉❤️

Hey! I do the same. Gym before work. Getting up at 6. I leave my place at 6.50 (I am a very very slow person in the morning). I wish they were open before 8 at the gym. No one in the office before 9 here, makes a huge difference with the US. The bottom line, I work out only 50min now.

You are so busy and so dedicated to do everything. You won't be sorry being available to your kids in the afternoon.... Mom guilt is a real pain. 😣 But, I hope the trade off and sacrific in your schedule works well for you. Hang in there!

Chris...he's not creepy. Just chubby and smiley at 6 a.m. We will never be friends. 😉 Thanks Liv. I've been having really great workouts regardless of the time. I am a morning person for sure. Don't love people in the mornings but do love mornings. But like Velvetee, I don't like to race around in the morning and I kinda have to if I want to get in a cup of coffee and my Bible reading and an hour workout and get home in time to have some protein and get the kids off to school and start work at a decent hour. That's where I'm struggling. It's a race because 5 is doable...but 4:30? Eh- not sure about that. Thanks, Melissa for always supporting me! 💕

Oh creepy guys, that's a bummer. Had one yesterday asking with a creepy lubricious smile "hi hi, how are you?". 1 time. I pretended I did not hear. He insisted. Me - ever resting bitch face - "good, thanks" turning my back to him. Leave me alone!

Lol... Why do I feel the need to defend my NOT friend. He wasn't creepy or lubricious ("hey Google...what's lubricious"- had to ask the Google home mini 😆) anyhow not creepy or lubricious just fat and way too chipper. Now I feel bad. Now I have to smile back.
