Day 4 of a planned 4 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting

I had planned to do my normal 5 day fast, but, I go on vacation tomorrow so I will break my fast tonight.

Some my wonder why I call my diet during the week a fast. The word fast means: abstain from all or some kinds of food or drink.

During the week, allowing myself to have 'as much as I want' but putting a 'reasonable' limitation like 'no solid food' allows me to not 'binge eat'. After looking at my data on Fat Secret, I was able to see that 'binging out' (defined by eating a lot because I was 'bored' or 'stressed'), is what caused me to remain obese all my adult life.

However, it is not the calories but the macros that cause me to accumulate fat and gain weight. Calories are just a numeric calculation of the three macronutrients that I consume.

The main goal of my fast is to reduce my carbs and excess protein. Basically I am just doing #Keto.

After a year of doing this, I find that I can lose weight, during the week, if I keep my carbs below 20g, and my protein below 50g. I can consume as much fat as I can stand, which ironically has a serious ‘cap’ at around 100g. Without consuming more carbs or protein my body will simply reject any more fat.

Add all this up: (carbohydrates provide 4 calories per gram, protein provides 4 calories per gram, and fat provides 9 calories per gram), and I can consume around 1,000 calories a day and still drop an average of a pound a day over 5 days.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

It's great to know what you can do to control your desire to eat without restrictions. I use the Islamic fasting method two days a week, namely stop food and drink before sunrise and break fasting at sunset. I do intermittent fasting most of the week and I find it a successful way as well. I love your daily post, it's have a lot of diligence and continuity, which I learned from you. Thank you so much.

@Safa'a Lifestyle - Thank you for the support! When I can get the motivation, I also do a 'water only fast' (the Islamic 'dry fast' won't work for me because I run when fasting). I find this is very beneficial for 'spiritual reasons' (to concentrate on gratitude for want I have rather than desire for more). I have fasted up to 11 days. I feel it has allowed me to make great improvements that go way beyond just losing weight 😁
