Couldn't earn a gold star in the clean plate club last night. A restaurant portion is just too much food now. I still ate more than I should've, but it's such a habit for me to eat everything on my plate that I consider it a small victory to not do that.

Now, I'm battling my coffee addiction. There's a war of wills going on right now. I want to brew a fresh pot, but I know the better choice would be some hot green tea. Coffee or tea?

12:45pm The cranberry green tea won. Now I'll see if I get the caffein- junkie headache. I did feel less energetic than usual this morning.

Had a wild walk with the dog this afternoon. A huge limb fell out of a tree about 15 feet from us. Hit some power lines on the way down and started sparking and flaming. We dashed into the road away from it and called the power company. So our power was out for a few hours. I didn't want to open up the fridge, so ate a banana and peach that were on the counter. Didn't feel like cooking when it came back on so I foraged for leftovers. I've got to make an effort to plan what I eat tomorrow.

I am crashing from no caffeine. I feel comatose. I even fell asleep during our power outage while the house was so hot, but I'm still sleepy as hell. Tempted to make a pot of coffee now, but don't want to buzz all night. Blah.

The portions they put on your plate at restaurants are just appalling. I think the food service industry plays a major role in why there is so much obesity in America. Bravo for you for staying aware and pushing the plate away!

What you're saying is absolutely true. You should read the book "The End of Overeating." It's a miracle anyone can stay slim in the US with all the ways food is corrupted, packaged and marketed to us. I admit, I have been a convenience food junkie, and it's hard to quit.

Fortunately, (or unfortunately) I developed allergies to certain foods that are almost always found in snack and convenience foods, so they are off my list permanently.
