Day 4 of a planned 5 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting

Dr. Jason Fung was quoted in a recent article:

https://www.rd.com/health/diet-weight-loss/weight-loss-advice-from-1920-does-it-still-hold-up-today/

“Caloric intake doesn’t matter to weight gain… We can burn calories in a laboratory (or in our bodies) and determine the amount of heat released. But our body gains or loses fat according to detailed instructions from our hormones (insulin, ghrelin, and leptin), which are what really controls weight.”

He further says:

“A calorie is a calorie” is an often recited but useless mantra for weight loss, as laws of physics don’t affect the hormonal signals that regulate the accumulation or loss of body fat…”

This is why I have found dropping my carbs and then running is my best way to lose weight. I force my body to burn fat. If I give it 200+ carbs a day, it may drop water weight, but it won’t burn much fat.

I plan to run this morning…

I've been away from the gym for a week. I plan to go in today. I plan to just do deadlifts and squats and then be out of there in around 30 minutes :)

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Good planning today. Lots of new discoveries about hormones and how our cells react over the last couple of decades. Hopefully people can be helped by the new learning.

I miss running, wish my knees would let me!

@gz9gjg - My knees used to swell up really bad. I now use a method called the "pose method" (lean forward and barely pick up your feet).

@liv001 - Yes, and all people do not react the same. For some people they can just 'count calories' and their results will generally match up for them. However, that still doesn't make it scientifically correct, it just works out that way :) Kinda like the Sun revolving around the Earth. The math 'appears' to work out... until it doesn't :)

@gz9gjg - Yes I understand. My wife has two fake hips because of that problem. Now no more pain, but-can't-run 😢
