Miraculum's Journal, 18 May 2019

Yow. I did well today until after dinner, and then went out for ice cream. I really feel gross. These last eight days, I averaged over 2100 calories and about 125g carbohydrate per day.

This kind of eating just does not work for me anymore. If I'd forgotten what it was like to feel too full, bloated, and sick on sugar, I've given myself another slap upside the haid with the sugar two-by-four. I think I got passed my endocrinology appointment on Monday the 13th and then decided to let loose ... just "a little." Ain't no such thing as letting "a little loose" for me.

I looked back at my food diary from January, when I did so well at keeping my carbs low (around 35g/day) and was feeling fantastic. I notice that I began to drift higher in calories and carbs in February, when I began eating a small whole avocado almost every day. Then, I discovered Nuttzo and began adding a tablespoon, and then a little more of it, to every avocado.

That got to be a lunch ritual: almost 300 calories and almost 16g carbohydrate in those two foods alone. I was finding it impossible to stay under 20g total carbs, and then they began to creep up.

So, avocado and Nuttzo must be relegated to a Saturday-only lunch. Back to intermittent fasting, 16:8. Tomorrow I have my husband's Sunday Brunch omelette at noon, herbed chicken breast and broccoli for dinner. Monday begins the new avocado/Nuttzo-less lunch routine: a meat protein option, with melted butter, and sliced cucumber with tzatziki. Dinner: protein, low-carb vegetable, butter. And water. Tons of water.

I've already planned my meals in my FS food diary for Sunday and Monday.

I wish there was a way to flag a journal post, so I can come back and read how disgusting I feel, physically, right now.

OH! I know! I'll add a place keeper: A great big picture of my cockapoo! Handsome is 11.33 years old and still has his puppy personality, like every cockapoo seems to! I think the image kinda looks like a painting at this resolution, and I like the one-eyed deal! He looks so calm and serious. He's not that way at all! So funny!
223.5 lb Lost so far: 61.5 lb.    Still to go: 55.5 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

For those who don't know what Kenna's talking about, I positioned the narrative part of my post on my monitor so that the entire thing was in frame, and then clicked the "print screen" key. I opened a new Word document and "pasted" the screen grab into the Word document. It's ready to print and post on my refrigerator and wherever else I need to see it. (Bathroom mirror is a good place, too.)

It is a slippery slope. isn't it? I have been through the same type of experiences many times. I find I am now learning portion control

We are just alike. But, you have wayyy more control than I have. I crack and binge at the first sign of... anything... So, my 'no solid food fasts' are the ONLY way I can make *any* progress. The weekends I allow myself to eat (need to for 'mental relief'). When I do eat, I havn't been able to 'control' my binges at-all. The *best* I can do is 'limit-the-damange" by eating as late in the day as possible or running 7-12 miles (hard to eat while running for 2 hours). Anyway, Good Luck!

Adef, I tried a walking program when I was 24 years old and 165 lbs. My feet were sore but it was just a mile or so every day. Within a month, my big-toe bunions were breaking through the skin, necessitating surgery. A few years ago, with better shoes and orthotics, I developed a massive ulcer on the sole of my right foot. It took three months non-weightbearing to heal it. These feet were NOT made for walkin'! But, yeah, exercise would help!
