Day 5 of a planned 5 day ‘no solid food’ fast
Blood sugar 98 mg/dL

Went to the gym and maintained my 180lbs squat, deadlifts, and shrugs 😊

Now, I had two high carb glasses of orange juice (with Protein Powder, Yum!), and basically consumed 1200+ calories so ‘rapid weight loss’ for the day was of course ‘elusive’. But, by sticking to my ‘no solid food’ fast I avoided ‘binging’ that would have been triggered by eating a bag of tortilla chips (my original plan to ‘carb up’ for my workout).

Yes I lost a pound, but, at this point in my 'no solid food' fast I would usually lose 2lbs a day. It is a 'balance' between having enough carbs to maintain my lifts, and limiting my carbs so I lose weight. Yesterday it worked out perfectly :)

When I do find myself 'binging' (basically this happens to me every weekend when I eat), fasting, running, lifting weights also 'balances' things out. Simply, I do not try to 'stop binging' because I know I can't control myself. Not trying to fight this makes me a LOT happier.

I picked a random Fat Secret Journal post from 5 months ago https://www.fatsecret.com/Default.aspx?pa=memnd&id=104170985 and I see that I had no control over my eating then, and 5 months later that hasn’t changed. But, I am no-longer-fat, and, I have not been fat for nearly 6 months 😊

So, if you are like me and you keep failing at this diet thing, there are options, and there IS hope 😊

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

great things went well and now that you know the juice right before work out instead of way ahead of time, maybe that will work out even better on your weight loss goal. though I think a pound loss is pretty good considering you had the extra and your muscles should be retaining water from the work. do you eat tonight?? if not and you drink enough water maybe you will see a better loss tomarrow.

@Keilin_4 - You know how I told you it would kinda suck' if I missed my goal by a pound? Well, that may happen Hahaha

@Baskington - Thanks! That is my plan. I 'hope' to eat 'just' my Quest Pizza tonight and still lose a pound or two on Saturday morning :) I'm off to a 🏃🏾 5 mile run before work...

what about vegetables, greens salad? Or you don't like to eat that? 🤔

@Keilin_4 - I eat vegetables and (sometimes) salads on 'eating days' :) On 'no solid food' days, not 'chewing my calories', for whatever reason, keeps me from 'binging'. My weight loss is basically the result of 'not binging on food' for 'multiple days' :) :)

@Baskington, @Keilin_4 - Here is why I simply need to 'stop binging'. I looked at the last time I was 168lbs on a Friday, and it was just two weeks ago. On that day I consumed 102 carbs and 2123 calories and gained a pound. Then the next day I followed that up with 152 carbs and 2345 calories and I gained three pounds! I followed that up with only 70 carbs but still 2350 calories and gained ANOTHER 2 pounds. It has taken me 5 days of 'no solid food' fasting to lose the weight from those three days. Sooo today I am going to try to just-not-do-that :) :) - - Since I know I cannot control my 'binging' when I start eating, I will only start eating at 7:00pm tonight. Tomorrow I will do the same thing. Let's see how it works...

You're doing an amazing job! I read your posts and I say, "how does he do that?" 😊 It's great that you were about to workout with the 180lbs and didn't have to use lower lbs. 👍

Sounds like a great plan, you work hard to lose weight, so you have to think about it when you want to clean up your fridge. I don't know about you, but for me it's hard to stop eating only when I don't sleep, the last week was bad for me, I am sleeping great this week 🤗

Yes Becca he is doing a really great job.

@Becc@ - Thanks! I have to give @Chrisw77 credit for the Orange Juice idea :)

If I had a binge problem I would be testing different foods to see if there are any that don't promote binging. pizza tends to set off cravings and I can't stop eating it when it is in front of me. chicken steak pork don't tend to make me feel that way. my personal vice is ice cream. carbs tend to set you off. I think it is great but confusing that the orange juice does not set you off. sugar by itself does not set me off either. funny how those things work.

@Baskington - Only lean meat will not make me binge.... but it will increase my desire for carbs, and then I will binge. I literally cannot eat a 'Cowboy Ribeye' in a single sitting. I tried, just can't do it. Everything else, I 'eat until I am full'. I can consume 3,000 calories EASILY before 'full' kicks in. - - solution, don't take the first bite :) I consumed 1200 calories yesterday in liquids so the effects of 'real fasting' don't apply :) - - Simply, I do not *need* to eat 'solid food'. If that is what is keeping me from being fat, I need to just keep doing it... Perhaps I should write a book: "The no Solid Food Diet" :)

Awesome job keeping at the 180# weights! Enjoy your last fast day before the dreaded weekend eating! You can get through it!!

Suggest mixing up your workout routine, almost every time. Confuse the body (muscles) & also the workout doesn’t get boring.

I agree your way works Adef for you the fasting, I think you misunderstood me on the meat timing. when you are going to eat, I was asking if you tested other foods to see if you can eat and not binge. protein instead of carb food. and yes I know when you eat you can consume that much. you don't have to have a cowboy ribeye. Just because steak with lots of fat works for me doesn't mean it works for anyone else. a salad or low carb veggie with a protein you all normally would eat. you were talking about pizza which I know may set you off and just asked if you tried to test other food types instead of that. I will try harder to not make suggestions.

@baskington - Yes, I have been testing various foods and the lean meat is the only one that wont start a binge on its own. The Quest Pizza is interesting. Like lean meat I can only eat so much (because it has a MASSIVE amount of Fiber), But, because it does have carbs it causes a 'carb binge'. So, after eating it I have a huge protein shake and go right to bed :)

that is smart to go to bed. if I had ice cream around bed would wait!
