Phew. What a weekend. :) I'm REALLY glad it's Monday morning that that I am going to work. I need to get away from all the fun and temptations that my weekend has been all about! :)

Let me tell you all about it!

Friday, we went to the hospital for my checkup. As I briefly mentioned, we got up super early for Wife to go do a few essential things at her job before we left.

Our appointment at the hospital was at 9AM, and we have a two hour commute to get there.

So, we left home at 5 AM, and I went to check my work mail and a few other tidbits while she was getting ready.

We were at the hospital on time, and it seems that the doc is MORE than happy with my progress! YAY! Actually, we have pushed the next follow-up until in two months, unless something happens. I can e-mail here as needed, so I won't be without options to communicate.

We went for a nice brunch in the city of Roskilde while we were there, and went home after a few hours of walking the town. It was a great day.

Saturday, we went for our usual shopping and lunch, and then we went to the little festival here in my home town. It's little in the way that it's a one stage, two day festival, with about 10 bands, but the bands are on the larger scale of Danish bands. Nothing international, but still some pretty good stuff. See further down this journal. :)

My good old friend is the monitor sound engineer for the headliners, D-A-D, who is a really fun rock'n'roll band. He sent me a text that they were coming to town, and he got us backstage passes! Free access everywhere! I really had to put restraints on myself - free food, free snacks, treats, candies, fruit, BEER! I did well though, but still the results of an indulgent weekend shows on my scale this morning.

It was a blast. I got myself a t-shirt, the guitar pick from the singer/guitarist, and a backstage wristband as proof of a mighty good time.

I spent the concert front row center, having tons of fun. I was actually offered to stand in the restricted area by the mixer, this is by far the best sounding spot at the venue, but I wanted to be up front.

This is a small town, and people aren't really used to big rock concerts, so there was no pushing or shoving. I was there all comfortable all night.

D-A-D does their very own style of (I guess you can call it) country inspired hard rock. These days it's a lot more hard rock than country, but you can tell that they have some deep roots.

They played the giant Wacken Festival in Germany just a few weeks ago, and this was broadcast on TV. It's essentially the same show as we saw Saturday, so this will give you a good idea of what we saw. The introduction is (of course) in German, and the singer adresses the crown in (very broken) German, but the music speaks for itself.

These guys absolutely rock. Do notice that the bass player only has two strings on his basses. :)

...

Yesterday, we went playing with Burn/Burnin' Live. We still haven't settled on the name, but we had a blast playing. We were only the three of us, as we wanted to get a little bit in shape on some songs before we get our singer dude in to try out some more. It's a lot harder for him (and us) to check things out if we don't even remember the arrangements.

As always, we recorded the whole thing, and I will be posting a clip or two later on, I think.

After rehearsal, Wife had invited the band home to us for dinner, we had some AWESOME spaghetti and meat sauce, and Wife's devlishly deliscious chocolate cake. I am SO happy that she sent the rest of the cake home with my drummer, or I'd be munching it right now.

...

The scale is up today. I'm at 87 kgs. I am NOT happy about this, but it's okay. Something remarkable happened through the weekend. I tried on my green pants, the ones I usually would wear before the surgery. I haven't been able to fit them because of the swellings, and I haven't even been remotely close to being able to close them.

Well, they close now. They fit, except for my thighs. My thighs have so much fluid, it's crazy. I can, however, now squeeze into the pants - I couldn't do this at all two weeks ago - and they close. They're just not comfortable enough for me to wear for a full day, so they'll have to wait a bit more.

Now, this motivates me even more to get going. I feel that I have been slacking too much this last week, and the concert, rehearsal, chocolate cake doesn't exactly make me feel prouder about my weight.

So I am on it. I hope to toss off a few kgs this week, and get me closer to the weight I want to be. Let's see what happens.

Phew, that was a lot of recollecting. A lot of things have happened this weekend - no wonder I am tired. I slept okay though. I did wake up a few times, and had a hard time falling asleep, but I did eventually sleep again. Phew. I don't want those up at 2 AM nights again, if I can avoid it.

Today, I am thankful for:
- An Amazing weekend!
- Morning coffee. BOY do I need it.
- My dear friend Rune for hooking us up Saturday. :) Thanks!
- Rock and roll all weekend.

I know this will be an amazing week. Many fun experiences, and good weight loss results. May your week be just as fun!

Sounds like a killer weekend Keld, I once had a simular experience at an Ozfest. Its good to have hookups with the band. Also, back in the 80's I knew a security guy for Motley Crue, Ratt, Ozzy, etc. Good times! Well, back to reality, we cant rock n roll all the time. I wish.
