Jenny O's Journal, 09 August 2018

We entered dad into hospice last week with his Alzheimer's and he has started comfort meds this week. Alzheimer's is such a terrible disease that it could mean he could be gone soon or it could mean longer. God only knows. I have found myself developing my bad habits again. Eating and not tracking, not exercising. It's easy to slip into that and I am trying to kick that in the butt now. Exercise especially is the best thing I can do for the stress, well next to prayer and meditation. I am pretty good about doing that. It's what gets me through this. Please pray for our family as we journey through this. Thank you for your support, it helps just to type this to you and know there are people out there, even though they are strangers, they still care. I appreciate that!

Prayers for you and your family, Jenny. My Mom also, like other comments, has dementia. I have the hardest time knowing what the difference is between the two. Stay strong!

I know how difficult it is with hospice. Just remember as a caregiver you must care for yourself first. That is not selfish...it is imperative or there will be nothing left of you to give.

Lost my dad earlier this year after a slide downhill. Bigger WHAM! than you expect. I'll be thinking about you and praying for you and yours.

Sending prayers your way for you and your family! Praying for strength to go through. You're in our thoughts. And yes exercise is definitely a stress reliever.

Hang in there baby...does not get much tougher than this. Be gentle with self. Seek a support group. They are out there. My mom died from another hideous disease in 2017. She was ill for a while..years...so... I get it. I kept writing my food down every day trying. Gained 10 lbs...bought up all the Half Naked popcorn my health food store had e every week..bought so much they started double ordering every week....:)...beginning to get it back under control now....but I am a long term recovered in AA (34) years prescription drug.addict.....so better to throw food at my heart break than dope...or alcohol... Death can be a relief...for us and for them..sometimes it's the only way out. It was for my mother whom I adored. You will be ok..literally one minute at a time sometimes for me it was. And be kind...Jewel is right..in the end only kindness matters of mattered...Hugs honey.

You’re under great stress. Be sure to nourish yourself. That includes permission to cry, get angry and also to walk instead of running. And sometimes pizza and ice cream instead of vegetables and lean protein. Just be sure to stop and check in with yourself so that you can know what you truly need. Prayers for you and all your family
