Vickiauntmick's Journal, 22 July 2018

I've lost complete control of my diet. It spiraled out of control somewhere around the weekend before last and today. I literally just got back from a 1:15 am trip to the doughnut shop near my house... because they posted they were open all night on Facebook. And I looked at the pictures. I wanted to eat the pictures. I drove to the place to eat the pictures. I've made no attempt to be vegan for over two weeks. My stomach is not happy. The gas coming out of me right now 😂😂😳... I wish I could figure out why I lack so much self control.

Oh honey! ❤️❤️❤️ I have been there! The only thing that has helped me is quitting sugar, cold turkey, it sucks, it’s crazy hard, but when you get to the other side, you feel so empowered and in control. It’s not for everyone, but it’s changed my life.

Some people seem to do well with cutting it out completely and some seem to do well with a few well planned ‘snacks’ through the month. Try to find if one of those would help you ;). Otherwise pure avoidance might help but that’s a bit hard with social media. Go ‘unlike’ that donut shops page ;). One less temptation of you don’t have to see their posts every time you log in. Just some ideas 💡

For me, it's like I am getting back at myself for trying to get healthier, like, oh, I will show you that eating all that bad stuff is perfectly fine, you don't need to listen to your healthier side to be happy. Hang in there, today is up to us!

You might try OA or AA. I think you can get online meetings if you don't live near where you can drive or walk to.

I have been watching my daughter-in-law gain more and more weight. You really don't want to go there. Try to get a grip if you can. Wishing you the best.

First thing I learned or relearned was that my Temperance and Prudence were OUT of control, I researched both these terms and this was like a heaven sent awakening WOW! Unless I master these two I will be destined to repeat the same mistakes. Do the research and you will be amazed!!!

temperance sorry, definitions: self-restraint; moderation; self-control prudence: reminds us of the consequences of our actions, yikes!
22 Jul 18 by member: sandylulu
we need habitual moderation in any indulgence, appetite, etc.

Prudence is the ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason.

I hope you will be kind to yourself and have patience. You have recognized a situation you want to change and written it down. In the past I have found this is required for me to make the changes I need and get back on track. However, patience was also required.

I am with you, Vickiauntmick. I know exactly how to eat for my program and still cave in. You can do this, I do better each day having only 1 cave in now and that cave in is not a bad choice, just too much for my goals. YOU CAN DO THIS!

I do well on any dietv however, I'm a sugar addict. One off I can stay off as long as I'm not tempted to have something sweet. One donut and I'm a gonner. I'll eat the whole box. My friends all say one little bite won't hurt you - they don't understand addiction. My prayers are with you.

Good luck, and please be good and kind to yourself. It's hard, but it's worth it!

I found this Skillpower over willpower video helpful and he uses a really great analogy of tug of war. Whether you get all the details at the end of the video or not, the analogy is great to see and use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TX-Nu5wTS8

It's okay, really it is. Like @adefwebserver said, you recognized that you went off track. I was just talking to my husband about changing ones behavior and I believe there's at least 3 steps/parts. Simply put - 1) recognize the behavior 2) brainstorm for a solution that works for you 3) implement the solution so the result is changed behavior. It always takes time to change a habit, because it took time to form it, but you already know what positive accomplishments you are capable of, focus on those. Remind yourself of all the times you could have eaten donuts/sweets and you didn't and/or the times you had just a bite of something off plan. Remind yourself that you are an intelligent woman and you can do this. Even with off track moments, you can still pick up and continue forward. Remember to be kind to yourself, I bet you are to your loved ones. Be your own best friend, she knows you best. ❤

@JacksonMcGinley - Yep, one donut and I want the entire box. I have not had a donut since I started my current diet.

In my food today I had to make room for a 200+ calories donut, I know it it's not a good choice for my abs but if I don't overeat, I will be mentally fine , try to make room for your favorite food in a little portions, it may help you, if I don't eat what I am craving the things get worse.

I know I can eat 3 - 4 donuts right now even when I am not hungry but I am going to wait for lunch time to break my 16 hour fast, it's hard sometimes 😐. Good luck girl! 🤗❤❤

Been there many times - I know how hard it is and if you start getting down on yourself it is only going to make it harder. So be good to yourself and just start again - it's all we can do.
