Well, I made a huge milestone today. I ate at a Chinese buffet, had one modest plate, had a great time, snacked on popcorn and had 3C cauliflower rice and butter for dinner. I hit the mark with my calories and stayed under 1000. I feel so comfortable, so happy, so proud! I’m realizing I’m not the same food addict I’ve always been. I’m eating to get energy, for fuel! And, on occasion, I’m eating for socializing and for enjoyments, just like normal people do without issue. It’s taken me over a decade of therapy and inpatient treatment to figure out HOW to eat, and now I’ve spent the past 6 years post-treatment trying to find my way without (Ed) binge eating, purging, starvation, or any other behaviors that are not going to make me feel good or healthy. I gained over 100 pounds in the healing process, because purging was first to go and binge eating was last! I’m proof that recovery is possible, and that if you’re kind to yourself, and treat yourself well as you would someone you love deeply, anything is possible.
