VAM49's Journal, 20 July 2018

Not sure where else I can record notes, so just making a note of pain and inflammation status for myself, which is the main reason I'm focused on weight loss. Pain in knee that doc said a while back is bursitis - over last 2 months pain has become a sharp pain in a very specific spot on knee. Wondering if it is more the tendon attachment than the bursa at this point. Either way, bending knee too far or standing/walking,/flexing and holding quads - any of those too long causes too much pain. Right shoulder bursitis affects general activity like putting away dishes, left shoulder not quite as bad. Both elbows not as bad as was in past, but still not able to just ignore the pain sometimes and plenty of things I can't do. Hands still feel a little swollen and sore when I make a fist especially right last 2 fingers - but wow I am able to put my wedding ring on which I haven't done in years so swelling reduced in hands - and can see more tendon activity in back of hands and less puffy at wrists than before. New symptom in last week - left knee beginning to notice once a day generally sore about 10 min - probably from compensation when walking and standing. New symptom in last week - feet sore on bottom at random times even while laying down but thankfully not painful on tops of feet for several months now. New symptom in last week - hot feet 4 times - not quite burning but feels like way too close to a fire - found wearing wet cold socks with feet on pillow relieves it. New symptom in last week - pain in and just above some fingers and some toes. Inflammation is generally down since reducing carbs. Keen inflammation down - can see knee cap better - and foot and ankle inflammation down - can see ankle bones and hollows just a bit and ankles have a shape and some definition even though still have puffy/swollen areas/spots. Note: diet change has been reduced calories from excess I had been eating, significantly reduced carbohydrates, significantly reduced packaged foods, and increased fats. I believe not much change in avg protein.

I take turmeric in capsule form for inflammation for my arthritis. It has helped me. M y dr. recommend it. Might check if ok for you to take.

to help the inflammation I use a mix of black pepper and turmeric...the turmeric is a great anti inflammatory but it needs whatever is in the pepper to make it bio available to your system..I season lots of my food with it, seems to help my sciatica. hope this helps you too!!!

Try taking collagen :) I have some really tender knees and super sore hips. I started taking collagen about two weeks ago and the change is REMARKABLE. I am just about pain free now. The only time I get a lot of pain is when I really over do it. But my stamina is greatly improving, so I expect this to get better and better. I have more energy and feel more clear headed. Plus, its really good for your hair, nails and skin.

have you noticed if you eat certain foods that the pain/swelling is worst the next day or even a few hours later?? Sometimes certain foods can make things more painful

Baskington - TY -I'm pretty bad at noticing differences - it's just "oww" again. I think this might be something though so I'm now looking into an elimination type food chart that can help me determine if there are certain foods I react to because I wonder if I'm eating something regularly that really causes me excessive inflammation. If I find anything over the next month I'll post it surely. Bevnicholson - TY - I'm thinking collagen is in my good gel bone broth and I've just started making it more often so I can drink 2 cups a day! I happen to love the flavor a lot more than coffee and tea, so I'd sip it all day long if I weren't out to have no snacks between meals:) KerryKeto and Fishingwidow - TY - good idea - I read someone else's post about tumeric and they use pepper to activate it - so I'll start adding both to bone broth.

You sound a weeeee bit like me! When my feet get that burning felling I'm absolutely puzzled! I put them in cool water. I'm on a mission and determined to feel better too since meds never help. Glad your here. I just went to a new doc who is major keto, food oriented and between him and I hopefully we find and answers to heal ourselves. My knee, ( bad arthritis and artificial bone implant) has actually quit swelling like it use to over the past few months. Hopefully by the end of the year were both feeling better! So much info out there now! Happy SATURDAY

if you log your food here or wherever you are comfortable doing it, you may find some triggers. I was lucky I found a doctor decades ago that recognized what I was going through and got me the right testing and lab work to properly diagnosis my problems. She studied under one of the most progressive Fibromyalgia specialists in south florida at the time. I have fallen by the wayside over the past 2 decades but I am slowly getting it back together again. Back then physical therapy was an eventual godsend to give me relief, but it was aweful painful until things loosened up. I hope you find something and that it gives you some relief.
