I’m personally going to the gym hoping to build muscle. At the very least maintain what I have while I lose fat. So I’m of the opinion that the gym does matter. Food intake just matters more ;). But hey, we all have those days where we just aren’t up to making a healthy meal! To avoid this as much as possible I try to have things like roast or chicken that I can throw in the crockpot the morning of the day I plan to work out or know I’ll be exhausted. It’s helped me stay on track several times! But those nights I do usually throw in canned veggies or potatoes with the meat. Neither of which is the healthiest but it’s better than a frozen pizza when I eat half of it!

I agree to a point. If I had been going to the gym a year ago I’d never have gained all my weight. I probably wouldn’t have lost any but I wouldn’t have gotten 40# over my ideal weight. However diet is extremely important, and like you say, the gym won’t really help that much as far as weight loss if you aren’t in a deficit and have a decent balanced diet.

Great comments from all of you. Just a thought :) This year, I lost 55 pounds with zero exercise or workout. Just following a good diet. In 2011, I lost 63 pounds with a lot of exercises and never thought about what is in my diet. Whatever "burns" or "deficits" your calories will propel you to the desired result. Good luck to all of you. 😊
