Becc@'s Journal, 24 June 2018

Well, I discovered something today- I am doing alright with this weight loss thing. I have felt like I have been all over the place with calorie count, macro numbers/percentage, lowering carbs, including carbs etc. I tend to get impatient and feel like I am failing if I don't see changes early on. You would think I would have understood that it takes time in order for the weight to come off so that it stays off. I have been through situations in my life where my being patient is a must, I don't know why I thought this would be different, in that my patience wouldn't be required. I reminder when DEADPOOL12345 told me, try these numbers and let me know how you are doing in 3 weeks. What 3 weeks, are you kidding!!!??? Of course that isn't how I responded. I didn't get back to him, (sorry DEADPOOL) because I didn't hit those numbers for an entire week's time, much less for 3 weeks. But, I still tried, some weeks more than others, I promise I did try. So, when we went on vacation to California a few weeks back, I figured this trip is gonna do me in. We went out to eat a lot, as usual, visited with friends and family where of course there's always food involved- good scrumptious food and alcohol, and our kids threw us a surprise party which included our own signature drinks. I tried to log most of my meals while away, but didn't weight myself. So, jump ahead to this morning I decided to update my little black book where I keep a more detailed account than what I have here on FS. What I discovered is that I did indeed lose weight while on vacation. I lost 1 pound over 2 weeks of eating certain foods and beverages that I thought would surely be detrimental to my WOE, but it turned out just the opposite. Thank you everyone, especially you DEADPOOL! You offered me help for free and with so much assurance that I could do it and not to worry or stress over it. Thank you!I am ready to report back to you. I love this community! I have one more note to add. While in L.A. we went to what is called Retro Row in Long Beach with our son and daughter-in-law. We walked into n upscale thrift store and right away I spotted a beautiful beaded dress on a dress form towards the back of the store. It had a price tag of $65. It was obviously too small for me, but it was a vintage Oleg Cassini dress for $65!!! I walked the rest of the store, picked up a few items, then asked the clerk how long the dress had been there, because I couldn't believe nobody had purchased it. They told me it had just come in that morning. Well, folks, I bought it! It's a size 8, which I am not, but I am going to use it for my dress when we renew our vows, which is in 3 years. I have some time to get there and I do intend on getting there before that time. If it doesn't quite fit properly when the time comes, I will simply alter it myself. I know I lost the guys already with this story, but maybe some of the ladies here could understand my excitement. So the photo of the dress is $65 of motivation. Oh, and my lunch today- mixed salad greens, avocado, grilled chicken, sweet mini peppers, raw sunflower seeds, and blue cheese dressing. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and getting closer to who and where you want to be. <3

The best thing is what works best for you. What makes you happiest, what you most enjoy doing, what’s convenient, preferable & works with your lifestyle, the last thing I’d ever wish is cause anyone stress or problems in any way, so whatever works best for you Becca, that you enjoy, is the most important thing. You got to enjoy your vacation and eat foods you enjoyed, still lost some weight towards your goal, & you got a nice dress to wear in the future as well. I call that winning, so you should feel like one because you are! & That goes for everyone else on this website too! I don’t care what path you’ve chosen or how, who you are, if we have or haven’t ever spoken, if you’re right/wrong, of you think I’m right/weong or just plain dumb. I care about ALL of your successes! It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been here or how long your journey has or will take you, it doesn’t matter if you’re over or underweight if you’re lean or not. What matters most is your enjoyment of your life and yourself, & regardless of what your fitness/health goals may be, they will be reached! Just stick with it, you’re all doing great. 👍🏻

Yes, thank you very much, Deadpool! Your advice is always nutritionally dense! You've helped so many people! And Becca: you are doing fantastic! It really is like the stock market... you're in a long-term investment. Though you want the "here and now", the payoff is in the final results. They take years to achieve, so just watch the overall (where are you now vs 6 months ago) instead of "day trading" and worrying about the minutia. And, like the stock market, you'll see dips and peaks, but the progress is always moving in the right direction overall. You just need to get it into your head that it's a REALLY long process. If you get to "retirement" quicker, great! Even if your market crashes, it will recover IF YOU STICK WITH IT! Consistency + Time = Results!

Good for you Becc - as Crisw77 says if you stick with it - consistency & time = results And that dress - oh my gosh - WOW - it's stunning - what a find, you'll look great in it!
