Doing well. I have lost 19 lbs since I started on April 9th. When I first started I wasn't doing keto correctly as I was eating too much fat and protein. Now, I eat 2 meals a day - lunch and dinner.

Typical lunch is some protein (tuna, sliced turkey, eggs, salami, canned chicken, etc.). Along with that At each meal, I have some fat mayo or avocado, few slices of bacon, etc. I add some spinach/lettuce leaves, leftover veggies, sometimes a cup of strawberries (once or twice a month).

Dinner is a pork chop, piece of chicken, hamburger, or sausage, with a couple of veggies (summer squash, cooked spinach, salad, green beans, peppers, etc.) oil or butter.

After dinner, I brush my teeth and I am done until noonish the next day. I am not hungry, not craving things, and feel healthier. Blood sugar is 89 to 101 in the morning and before lunch. Have not been excercising, but know I should start walking again. I guess I struggle with motivation for it!
I do not want to go back to eating as I used to - lots of carbs and sugar. When I was eating that way, I was always hungry, craving carbs, low energy, sluggish, and mind fogged.
Has anyone in the group managed to lose the weight and then maintain this way of eating? Any tips or suggestions for me?

Excercise is tough. I found having a walking buddy keeps me going. It's one thing to let myself down but I don't want to let her down.

Yes if u don’t have a calorie deficit u won’t lose weight, no matter what diet u chose u need a caloric deficit

To motivate the walking I keep in mind that the more walking I do, the less often I crave carbs. I can ride a crave wave by just drinking a big glass of water and then taking a brisk 5 minute walk. When it was first suggested, I didn't believe it would work, but it works for me.

@conicassity - I agree, without the exercise I could not control the cravings.

Some times I struggle to get myself down to the gym for a run.. but I try to trick myself and say head in do just a hard 15/20 minutes and go. But once I get in there and get started I always enjoy it more.. The buzz after is always great too. So maybe just tell yourself you will do one block, after one short block see how you feel?? Mostly you will feel better and tempted to do a couple of blocks more once you're out? The apprehension is always worse than when you actually get out there :) Best of luck, the walking will really help even if just a little at first.

You are doing great and eating healthy. It’s not a diet per se but a healthier way of living. Grats!

Thanks for all the encouragement to walk. I need to remember how good I felt when I was walking more. I am a retired person and it is so easy to get lazy! Today I am going to set a goal to walk for 15 minutes. I have a problem with being patient and walk to start off big, but I know that I need to start gradually. I am really out of shape and don't want to injure myself. As for the cravings, I really do not have them anymore. My husband can eat ice cream, and other snacks sitting right next to me and it doesn't bother me. I think that I have found the secret that I have searched for since my teens - eating carbs/sugar makes me crave more of them. When I was eating them I was never satisfied. I would eat a large meal and then snack all evening. I don't want to ever go back to that lifestyle.
