Last Friday, the official weigh in was flat, but once I got on the fancy machine, we found out that i lost five pounds of fat and gained three and a half pounds of muscle. I am very pleased with this. My goal this time around is lean and strong and I am getting there. In addition to swimming, I've been moving a lot of cinder blocks, 50 lb bags of sand and cement and some pretty hefty pieces of composite lumber for the deck. I've added extra protein in the form of mostly lean chicken and peanuts (okay, not so lean, but easy snacking for a quick boost). I'm building a low deck around the pool to support my new habit.

I've built up to swimming almost the entire 30 minutes with only four one minute breaks (serious heavy breathing there). i'm going to order some bigger hand paddles to increase my resistance in a couple of weeks. The new goal is to swim for ten minutes without stopping. I'm giving myself until the end of August for that one. Will get some sprints in there, too.

My skinny jeans are falling off me now to the point it's irritating. Belt is a solution, but who wants that in the heat? Can't find my goal jeans at the moment, but will look harder at some point. Hope I didn't donate them just yet. Crazy thing if I did.

I bought a very basic swimsuit pattern over the weekend. I'm going to practice on some ratty old suits before I go crazy with any new material. Or maybe never. Haha. Problem areas are tops are crazy expensive and all the bottoms they sell are either obscene or enormous. There doesn't seem to be an in-between anywhere in the stores for normal people that aren't in their teens. I'm not looking for a bikini, I just want a two piece so that it's not such a production getting in and out once it really heats up here in July through October.

Did a horrible job logging this weekend, but I rarely sat down. Was a solid 156 this morning, so I will try and do better logging, but I'm not beating myself up for not doing it.

At some point, I will do a "before/after" but not yet. There's a hippo that weighs in my brain (the pink tutu one from Fantasia, actually) and some pretty strong residual self-loathing buried in there as well. This is not a reflection on anyone else in their journey, it's just something that has lived in there for a long time and dances around no matter what I do.
