Day 10 of a planned 11 day fast

I woke up today, drank a glass of water and did my workout. I could barely make it through it. My energy has definitely gone down. I was dragging hard.

This alarmed me because until now I believed that once I was in fat burning mode (and after 10 days of fasting believe me I am definitely in fat burning mode), I would always have plenty of energy.

I then thought and realized I had not done any 'intense exercise' (when you have a elevated heart rate continuously for more than 20 minutes). I had not done a run since Sunday!

However, I was soooo tired, and it is 5:00 in the morning and I need to get to work! I'll just get a coffee instead, right? However, my advice to everyone who has low energy during a fast is to exercise. Time to take my own advice.

It took me a half an hour to lace up the tennis shoes and stretch. I started the first mile, and I wanted to die. Second mile felt better, and by the third mile, ENERGY RESTORED!

Basically, when fasting, my body sometimes wants to curl up into a little ball and go to sleep. Also, after eating a large meal my body wants to curl up in a little ball and go to sleep.

See a pattern?

For me, exercise is a gift from my higher power that allows me some choice in what my body does. Am I taking advantage of that gift today?

wow that is an amazing goal, I think impossible but you go! I am going to do a 60 hr. fast starting sunday 8pm

@Peggymcm - A few months ago when my wife said she was going to do a 3 day fast I told her that she was crazy and that it was bad for her health and that it was impossible! :) :) I worked my way up to this current 'extended fast' by doing much smaller and different types of fasts. Even this fast is not a 'pure water fast' because I am drinking sweetened cappuccino and bone broth. I believe fasting is a total 'mental game' that you can only get ready in 'your own head'. Another person cannot 'give it to you'. Good luck on your fast!
