So, i really like things that contain cooked tomatoes such as spaghetti sauce, chili, ketchup, etc. But i very much dislike the taste of raw tomatoes. I've never tried a little cherry tomato before, only the regular size. Do they taste different/better?

My new doctor has found an MRI place that i can use so next Friday we'll be driving to Paducah so i can finally get my hip seen about. It's been a long time coming and considering how quickly she made it happen and how close the place is to our town, I'm confused why my other doctors couldn't schedule it. Anyway, that means i will be getting out next Friday so the wait to find out my new weight is now less than a week away. I can say, waiting a month between weigh ins when you're trying new things is difficult. It's a long time to wait to see if you're on the right track or need to tweak something. I know I've lost but I'm really curious to see how much. I think two weeks between weigh ins would be reasonable.

My doctors i think cared about me but one was to easy going with me i think because we were high school friends. The other was good and she's the one who finally saw how bad of i had become and admitted me to the hospital. I think it was whoever has to find the machine that would hold me and make appointments and clear insurance. usually nurses are great. My mom was one for more than 35 years. But everyone has prejudices. I just think it's weird how easy and close it was this time. But maybe other things changed between now and the intervening months since i last asked about it.

I would say if you don't like raw tomatoes don't eat them, although imo the smaller tomatoes like grape tomatoes are sweeter and less slimy. Ymmv. Also that sux about the docs but glad you found one who is working with you/for you!

Let me know how they are please since you and i both don't like regular. I read the cherry tomatoes are sweeter than the grape ones. Maybe you could be my guinea pig and try both lol

Cjodyssey, I'm the same as you with tomatoes. Never liked the taste of a big, juicy tomato, no matter how good they look, but really like sauces, chili, etc. Cherry tomatoes are ... okay. I actually buy grape tomatoes to include in salads. They're a bit sweeter and, mixed in a salad, I like them.

They look like they'd be good with eggs and sausage and would add some color(and lycopene) to my breakfasts.

I just want to say though that imo, dieting, especially if it is a woe, shouldn't be about forcing yourself to eat things you can't stand! Try new things, yes. But as far as i know you get the same nutritional benefits of the tomato if it is cooked in spaghetti sauce and whatnot. Life is short, eat what you enjoy that works for your woe.

Oh i don't eat things i can't stand. I promise. I'm hoping they will taste good because really they look like they are supposed to lol If i made myself eat stuff i didn't like I'd be having salads and avocados :-) I have a limited food budget so I don't buy stuff that won't be eaten.

So glad you've found a competent doctor! Waiting two weeks to weigh in is really clever actually! Prolonging the anticipation would be very rewarding, I think. Cherry tomatoes are sweet and nice and crisp, not slimy. I liked them as a child who hated tomatoez lol. Grape tomatoes hold more liquid and are more acidic, I don't think you'd like them alone but they're wonderful in recipes. Keep us updated on the results of your MRI! 💕

Yeah i think two weeks would be good. I think two weeks was when i started to get antsy about not knowing how i was doing. I know others do it but for now i can tell you that waiting a month for me has been too long :-)

Try a happy medium if you dont mind measuring out a entire can then splitting the servings into 3 1/2 servings. Stewed Tomatoes. Del Monte has original, Italian seasoning and Mexican seasoning also Great Value (Walmart) has original and Italian seasoning. At Walmart they both cost $1.48 a can and the carb counts per serving range from 7-9 and sugars 5-6 depending on which you get. You can also look into stewing your own at some point but obviously if you are doing it yourself adjusting the whole sugar added part. I think the flavor your looking for and less slime part issue will be resolved. Here are links to look the stats over by scrolling down to the Nutritional info but I think the stats on the Great Value original sugar is wrong because if you look at the can side it shows a lower number like the Italian version https://www.walmart.com/ip/Del-Monte-Stewed-Tomatoes-Original-Recipe-14-5-Oz/10295116 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Del-Monte-Italian-Recipe-Stewed-Tomatoes-With-The-Flavors-Of-Basil-Garlic-Oregano-14-5-Oz/10295148 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Del-Monte-Stewed-Mexican-Recipe-With-Jalape-os-Garlic-Cumin-Tomatoes-14-5-Oz/10295149 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Italian-Style-Stewed-Tomatoes-With-Basil-Garlic-Oregano-14-5-Oz/10415670 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Stewed-Tomatoes-Sliced-14-5-Oz/10415214

Thank you so much for the tips! When i was able to cook more i used to use the del Monte Italian seasoned and it's good. Because of health and some life situations i can't do a lot of things in the kitchen right now but I'll definitely keep those things in mind as i lose more weight and things begin to change more again.

I love tomatoes!! My favorite are grape tomatoes, and beefsteak tomatoes. Two very different ends of the tomato spectrum. We used to grow them when we lived in Cali and we had SO MANY!! I would have tomato sandwiches everyday!! Sourdough bread, toasted, sliced tomato, mayo, salt and pepper...perfect summer sandwich!! I loved it!!
