HIGH PROTEIN foods are what I must consume, as I am receiving chemotherapy treatments. I am required to eat 90-110 grams of protein daily. Can anyone give me any tips on how to meet this goal naturally? I was given a food list, but it seems that I would be eating constantly from noon until night. My calorie goal is 1800, which I can guess I will meet if I can consume such a large amount of protein. It is noontime and Ive managed to consume around 38 grams, but I feel as I do after Thanksgiving dinner! LOL!

I buy egg whites in a carton from Costco. It's 25 calories per "serving" (it takes two servings to make a decent omelette) and has 5 g of protein, no cholesterol, no fat, and 75 mg of sodium. If you throw in a bit of cheese and diced veggies, it makes a nice omelette. Add a glass of skim milk, and you have a high protein low calorie breakfast. It usually runs less than 200 k cal :-)

I did it - it takes eating protein 3 or 4 times a day. Low-fat deli ham, chicken breast, and shrimp were my go-tos. A bodybuilder taught me about canned tuna and canned salmon, and fresh salmon is a good source too. Skim milk, a pint a day - I drink a lot of coffee! Fat free yogurt is a good source of protein also. Not sure how you feel about stevia, but there are organic vegan protein powders which are sweetened with stevia - great way to add protein and calories when you don't feel like eating.

mix the foods given to you on the food list and you'll be good to go, you do need about 5 meals per day so you will feel like you are eating all the time but it's needed

if you feel like your eating non stop try adding a protein shake between meals as a snack. I like them because I do a chocolate one & it feels like I'm cheating 😁. don't over do it at one meal my Dr said for a female my age not to do more than 20g at once because my body can't process it & it will just store it as a carb for later which we all know means turns it to fat. So 20grams @ each meal then 20 grams for between meal snacks & you have your 100 grams per day. without feeling like a stuffed pig all day.

Sorry you are going thru this. Look at the list and try to think of other similar items to add. Minimeals but no empty stuff.

Do a Google search for high protein foods. There may be some that are not on your list. Fish, obviously. Smooth tofu, peanut butter— good smoothie items. Lots of choices.

I don't eat meat, so if it weren't for protein shakes, I would never make my macros!! I also recently discovered Tofurky products, which are high in protein (as is tofu alone). Hope you're having a good day! 👊

Best wishes with your chemo journey. I've just completed Round 6 and can finally look forward to recovery, IF I can ever get my white blood cell count to rebound. I can't tell you how hard it is trying to eat everything that everyone is going to throw at you, but I can make a few suggestions, that while I didn't follow as faithfully as I should, were helpful and insightful. Please message me privately if you want any of this information. I know how overwhelming it is to have friends, family, coworkers, etc. all telling you what's best for you to do.

can check out perfect aminos, i would also look into adding soursop into your diet because it has cancer fighting properties and has many health benefits. mushrooms would be good to. (any kind except shitake)

Thanks to you all for your replies. It means so much! This is a tough thing to grasp, especially eating nausea is king lol

I wanted to give further advice, maybe your medical physician already told you this tips for nausea but in case he/she didn't: you should avoid coffee, chocolate, mint, things with monosodium glutamate (certain chips) to avoid nausea (those things tend to increase it). Also, try small feedings but often ones, if you eat a whole meal at once, you increase your chances of getting nauseous. Drink a whole glass of water with each set of pills you take (prevents esophagitis, if the pill doesnt reach the stomach rapidly all the way to the bottom, it irritates the esophagus and it tends to cause a burning sensation which can also worsen nausea). Dont lay down immediately after eating, wait an hour before you do so, to allow more time for the the stomach to empty. Avoid an excessive amount of condiments, just use the regular ones. There is a "formula" to decrease vomiting when one is specially nauseous, heat milk on the stove, let it boil, add garlic and drink it once its warm, it works depending on the person. Stay strong! God is with you!

I wish you all the best while going through chemo - I've never had to do anything like that. I have been told can be difficult to manage. I use protein shakes and low carb protein bars to keep my protein up.

Egg whites. 100% best complete protein, next is whey protein powder and chicken.
