Day 426
Weight 181.4 (up .8 lb)

Ate well all day yesterday ... then had dinner out with a girlfriend which of course included chips, salsa, Light Corona, and delicious shrimp tacos (served with white rice and black beans)!!! The slight fluctuation up is just that ... a fluctuation, nothing more.

Now I have my second cup of coffee in hand, the washing machine is busy with its first load of laundry, and I actually finished my taxes yesterday!!! It took longer than I would have liked (mostly due to the web-based program and slow connection combined with my slow brain) but it feels absolutely marvelous to have it done!!! State and Federal are e-filed, one less thing on my plate to get done before vacation!!! YES.

I also made our reservations for 'park & fly' for our trip. The airport is a good 2 1/2 hour drive from our home and our flight leaves at 8 or so in the morning. Since parking is so dang expensive at the airport anyway it doesn't cost us much more to stay adjacent to the airport the night before so that we don't have to get up before the crack of dawn to make our flight!!

I have one more thing I MUST accomplish before vacation which is my annual continuing education class in ethics before I can renew my therapy licenses (which are due for renewal while we are in Mexico). If memory serves me correctly there is a web-based class through my employer which is FREE to me ... so I can do it at work. The rest of my continuing education hours I completed back in May 2009 which is lovely. It feels good to begin to tick things off of my list and begin to fully enjoy the anticipation of 7 uninterrupted days and nights with my hubby, relaxing and enjoying ourselves.

We don't really have any specific plans for the weekend. The weather is supposed to be quite lovely today and I think there is rain forecast for tomorrow. I imagine at some point I need to do a grocery store run ... but other than that I think we'll just coast and see what presents itself.

Today I am grateful for ....

1. getting taxes done.
2. being able to laugh, have a little perspective, and feel a little more grounded these past few days ...
3. longer days ...
4. friends who like me just the way you am ... who don't put unrealistic expectations on me just because I am a 'therapist'...
5. the 'conversations' that go on here on fatsecret ... I love 'em!!!

It must feel great to get so much accomplished. Good for you. I have never had a shrimp taco but I love shrimp and will have to check that out. That's good you can do your updating at work. My employer is good like that too. Enjoy your Saturday and your countdown. Expecting beautiful weather here too!

Cathy ... if you love shrimp you MUST try shrimp tacos!!! I think I could eat shrimp every day of the week and not tire of it!! Of course my tacos had melted jack cheese on them too ... messy but delicious!!!

Hi Moose! good job with the taxes! Like Cathy, I've never had a shrimp taco, and I actually have never had a taco... I'll have to find out how to cook this one day. Have a great weekend, enjoy the nice weather!

I was just talking with an acquaintance at dinner last night who has also just finished an ethics course. What's the deal? Quite the current trend among career professionals. The individual with whom I was talking is a funeral director but he is also a licensed insurance provider. So I can understand the requirement. My brother-in-law who is an engineer just finished two weeks of "sensitivity training" because he asked his team, "Where is that little Peurto Rican guy?" After thirty-six years in the engineering field he was taught during his sensitivity course that the proprietous phrase was to have been "Where is the on-site electrical engineer?" Interesting phenomena in the world of work - huh! Have fun on your trip! I know you will! If you were traveling to Peurto Rico instead of Mexico - you might afford yourself a few verbal luxuries. If not -- well -- never mind. MUCH LOVE.

I do not mean any disrespect to our Peurto rican fat Secret pals out there. The example above is intended to illustrate the trend in the working world toward an emphasis on ethics and political correctness. The anecdote is just that -- an anecdote. Thanks for understanding!

I went to Buffalo this afternoon to Mighty Taco because I wanted to try those but they only had regular and fish taco's which I've never had either and wasn't in the mood for fish so I got my regulars. That will be my dinner tonight...I am foregoing the chips though. I love shrimp. Tell me where you found them.

As a Family Therapist, I complete continuing education units annually to maintain my current license. I can take whatever classes I want but 3 units must be law & ethics each year. It has been so since the 80's as far I as I know when I initially was licensed. It is not sensitivity training or sexual harassment topics. It is what is legally required and ethically mandated.

Taco Bell actually has shrimp tacos now ... at least in our neck of the woods!! I got mine at a little Mexican restaurant called Toro Viejo ... pretty sure it is only a local restaurant chain. I enjoy fish tacos too ... but shrimp is divine!! Make sure they are grilled or sauteed shrimp and not deep fried!!! I'm sure somebody must make them where you are Cathy!!! Good luck!!
