kingkeld's Journal, 14 March 2012

I finally got some sleep again, though I did wake up earlier than planned this morning. I don't think this was because I was "sleepless", but more because I went to bed at 8 pm yesterday. :)

I got up at 3:45, and did 35 minutes on the bike before Wife woke up. I like having this done in my own time, and before she goes to work. If I work out AFTER she leaves, I will already have eaten and had water and coffee, and it doesn't feel as comfortable. I like to do it first thing.

Yesterday I got some things squared away at work, slowly prepping to get myself situated a little better. The feeling of drowning in work has subdued a little, and I am more positive about it all. It's nice to get to move there instead of the deep waters. I'll say it's more shallow waters now. :)

I was so tired yesterday. I was happy that two of the four kids canceled coming to practice, so we agreed that we'd go on Thursday instead. This suited me nice, so I could come home and relax, and go to bed early. Of course, then I have a lot on my plate Thursday instead. I'll just have do deal with that. I will survive it.

The kids' band still need a singer. I have sent a message to "my" singer, asking him if he'd be guest rock star for an evening. I hope he says yes - it'd be fun to have him in on the whole deal.

Today, nothing much is going on. No real news since yesterday, I just came home and slept. I haven't had much to think or do, a pretty eventless evening. I like to have those now and then, don't you?

One thing, that did make me have some fun the last two days, was discovering the movie The Monster Squad, an 80's (90's?) movie kind of like The Goonies, with all my favorite movie monsters - Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Wolfman, The Mummy and The Creature From The Black Lagoon. Tons of fun, and still surprisingly entertaining. I've been watching it while on the exercise bike, and I've really enjoyed it.

I found the old tv-show online, and I'm gonna watch that the next several bike rides. I hope it lives up to my expectations. :)

What about you guys? What do you do when you're on exercise machines? I get bored pretty fast, so I need entertainment, and movies and tv-shows work for me. I tried reading, but it bounces too much, and it not really an option. But I wonder what others do. :)

I'm gonna do more ice cream tonight. I think I'm slowly getting to a mix that I like. It does still get rock hard, but as my buddy JP pointed out, the "pro" ice cream has chemicals or gelatin in there for it to stay soft. We don't really need this, just thaw it a little before you eat it. I usually give it a moment in the microwave - this works just fine. I'm trying to fine tune how much milk, cream, sweetener and cocoa powder to put in. I want it strong on flavor, but low on the calories. Save where it doesn't make much of a difference is key.

So, how about the weight?

Actually, it's funny that I keep putting this in here. I think it's mostly for me to keep my eye on the ball. I am just fine and happy where I am, and I don't really feel that I need to keep putting it. I'm not concerned if I go up or down by a little bit of weight, though I do keep a keen eye on it not rising like it did a couple of weeks ago. But if I am a kg more or less than the 77, doesn't really matter.

One thing does matter, though. When I go to my weigh-in at the pre-op I want to be below 77 if I in any way can. I have had "below 77" as a goal for ages, and I really want it to show, so I can check this one off as "mission accomplished". I will have to skip Indulgence Day the weekend before, for sure. Pre-Op interview is a Monday morning, and this could be tricky if I want to do Indulgence Day too. I will simply skip it and do good. That should be enough to accomplish it. :)

As you can probably read between the lines, I am still tired this morning, but not the same way as yesterday. I think I'm just not fully recovered from yesterday's total lack of sleep. I'm getting there though, and I feel pretty good. I'm just a slow starter today, I think. I can't really think of too much to put in my journal today.

However, today I AM thankful for:
- The Monster Squad saving us! :)
- Morning Coffee.
- Early to bed last night, and early up to get going.

Take care folks, and have an awesome day. Life is good!

When I run on the treadmill, I like watching Animal Planet. It's usually a dog rescue show and I like reading the story and finally seeing the animal go to a caring home. It helps to focus on something other than how fast you are going or for how long. I must look into that 80's movie! Happy Wednesday!!

I realized that the Monster Squad TV show is not related to the movie - it seems MUCH older. Oh well...

lol Monster Squad! Sooooo bad, but sooooo good! We recently showed that movie to our son, and he, of course, loved it. I love cheesy movies :-) Hmmm, might be time to bust out Roadhouse........

I love old movies. We have a TV station that plays all the old sitcoms.

I've never heard of the Monster Squad, nor have I ever watched The Goonies in its entirety.. !! How did your ice cream turn out?? I suppose maybe it has to freeze until tomorrow.. but I think it really is tomorrow already for you.. dang time difference..

Hehe, Glad to know I could help King. My son and I took our ice cream out while we ate dinner, then we knew our dessert was ready! I need to watch goonies with my kids and revisit that. It was recently mentioned in a show "Breaking In" which I highly recommend. Kind of a "24" turned into a comedy, with Christian Slater. Its good! Good job on the weight. I may have to skip a indulgence day soon here to meet my end of month goals. We'll see. Good to know its an option!
