Day 416 1356 Calories; Weight 181 (up .4)

A little frosty around the edges here this morning!!

Yesterday I was able to have my temporary crown re-glued onto the root canal tooth. Must remember to chew on other side. Other than that I was busy with phone calls, emails, and paper. Today is much the same but add our weekly staff meeting and an afternoon jaunt to meet a new family to our program (meaning both filling out more paper and creating new paperwork for me, the joys and opportunities just never end!!).

My hubby took his dad to see the cardiologist yesterday afternoon. His dad is quite an interesting 'character' and at 81 it seems is just now realizing that life is finite. FIL tends towards being more focused on himself than others and has never really accepted that his son 'grew up.' With each difficulty FIL faces, when he asks for 'advice' or 'counsel' and he receives a reply his response is 'that's easy for you to say.' After spending nearly 5 hours with his dad, as hubby drove up to FIL's house, his dad said 'by the way ... how are you?' FIL just doesn't get it and hubby came home very WOUND up!! Spent the evening decompressing him.

And still there is much to be grateful for...

1. realizing that 'underneath are the everlasting arms'
2. being able to openly talk about death with my loved ones as a natural part of life and having awareness that life is indeed finite
3. hubby realizing that his dad's behavior is not 'personal', not about my hubby, but just who his dad is
4. 30 days to Mexico!!!
5. plans to get taxes done in the next couple of days

And so much more but that is enough for now. I am hoping to 'work at home' tomorrow and Friday. If I avoid falling into tables I am able to concentrate better at home, fewer interruptions, and working in my jammies is a bonus!! For now ... I need to finish getting my 'act' together so that I can move on down the road to my joyous workplace.

So ... have a wonderful Wednesday if at all possible. Pace yourselves. If you are going through difficult times, remind yourself that at some point something will change. The only thing predictable in this life is indeed, change. Some changes we welcome. Some changes we chaff against. Some changes we run towards. Some changes we try to avoid. Take care of yourselves ... where ever your day may take you ... you are each 'worth it!'

I also agree with Glen. You are wonderful Moose and I think about you lots. I hope you have a better day today and good job decompressing your husband. Sometimes the older people just don't understand. I guess we just need to forgive them and keep going. My mom can be like that about somethings and actually I think that is her mechanism for dealing with things she can't deal with. Denial

You do love your Mexico - huh Woman! Enjoy! Ah yes! The temporary crown - I remember that one. Your hubby's daddy sounds like my mama in some ways. Her manner of expressing empathy is to say, Well. That's nothing. Here is what happened to ME." I worry that I have inherited or acquired the same habit. Am I doing "that" to you now? Am I implying that my root canals were somehow more painful than yours? I trust not. My intent is to communicate that I understand how aggravating both a root canal and a self-absorbed in-law can be. Really there is no difference. The root canal is to Moose as Moose's hubby's dad is to Moose's hubby. Thereis a wordy analogy with which to start your day! He-he-he-he-he!

yes ... Mexico is a 'magical' place for us ... and such a contrast to everyday life here ... it really helps us to recharge our batteries!!! I think your root canal was worse than mine actually!!! LOL!!! FIL is who he is ... just the way it is ... of course I know he 'loves' my hubby ... just limited in how he can express it ... life goes on!!
