Egull1's Journal, 23 April 2017

So, this is a very important moment. I'm going to write this all out for my own sake (but who knows someone else may benefit). Why is it important to write this all out? Because, it keeps me focused on the truth, not the illusion that has been sold to me.

The Scale's Data - says I'm up about 2 lbs

My data:
1. Clothes are visibly loose
a. capri's are getting so baggy in the crouch, they will soon not be suitable to wear in public
b. Bra, loose and am now on the third hook
c. shirt that once hugged hips and bulging tummy now has about 4 inches more room

2. At 2:00 a.m., I woke up and the rings on my fingers (which are normally loose) were so tight I was actually unable to get them off without difficulty

3. Yesterday was not a work out day. I only ingested about 20 oz of water

4. Joint and muscle pain were about a 7 yesterday, ingested two motrin at night

5. Only changes last week - cutting 800 more calories out of my diet by cutting out protein shakes and upping the intensity of my work out and strength training.

Reporting all this is essential for this girl, because this is indeed a moment where in the past, the snarky inner child gets upset, throws a tantrum, and wants to throw in the towel over the meaning of a number that represents NOTHING OF WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING IN TRUTH OR REALITY.

It's not even just that I'm seeing the difference in my body, I can feel it! So, word to the wise I'm not giving up and I'm not throwing in the towel, and I'm not going to cut anymore calories, and change anything right now other than continuing to incrementally increase the intensity of my workouts, because despite what that scale is presently reporting, that's not what my body is actually showing me or anyone else around me. In fact, my mother's parting words this morning were, "I can see you have lost weight all over" and I hadn't even weighed in yet.

As for the water retention, given the state of the rings on my finger, I'll let everyone else decide what these 2 lbs are attributed too. For you 20 and 30 something women out there, be prepared because when 40 hits, water retention does not just happen 7 days out of the week once a month. It takes on a life of its own and if you happen to have high ESR or CRP levels (i.e inflammation) then 9 times out of 10 there will simply be moments of high water retention and less high water retention!

Anyhow, have a wonderful Sunday, everyone. It's Buddha's birthday today. 3 Cheers to the 'enlightened mind'
