kingkeld's Journal, 14 February 2012

Ahhhh... it's amazing what 8 hours of sleep will do to you.

I slept SO good last night. I was tired, and slept like a baby.

I think the extra exercise in the afternoon, along with chamomile tea instead of coffee did the trick. I will test this theory out again tonight. Definitely no coffee after work, but the tea instead, and definitely more biking. :)

Yesterday DID turn out to be a good day!

I did have my "interesting meeting" yesterday. It was a case, where I was very secure in my preparation for it - much more than usual, as I am still a newbie at my job. I handled the interview really well, and ended up with the result I hoped it. It's so cool when you are able to control the situations around you, isn't it? :)

Weight wise, yesterday was a good day too.

As you can read from yesterdays journal, I did 30 minutes on the bike in the morning. I did have a plan to hit the gym, but I am kinda lazy to go these days, admittedly, so I opted to go home and hit the bike again. I did an extra hour at home, while watching shows with Wife.

I kinda like being at home exercising, if we have shows to watch. I feel that I get to spend time with the family, and it no longer feels weird exercising with them around. I'm getting pretty comfortable with it, and so are they. It does take a little getting used to.

Yesterday, we watched the new episode of The Walking Dead. I'm so happy it's back on. It's a great show.

At work, I started craving chocolate again, and I actually made room in my RDI to shop for a little on the way home, as I was going shopping anyways. Well, first of all, I opted for a much healthier snack bar then chocolate, second I dropped it off before making it to the cash registers. :) Go me!

At home, I did indulge in my low calorie ice cream - more than I intended, but I was nowhere near the top of my RDI when I went to bed. I'm perfectly fine with this. I ate good, had awesome food and didn't go over RDI. That's how we're supposed to live anyways, right?

I did lose a little bit of weight today - a few hundred grams. I'm perfectly happy with this - it's only Tuesday, and Indulgence Day does affect me for quite a while.

My buddy Ryan asked me how many days I am affected by Indulgence Day, so I figured I'd explain what I generally experience. It can be tricky to get your head around Indulgence Day and the way it affects your weigh-ins.

This is what I see:

Saturday: I weigh myself in the morning, and usually see a new lowest weigh-in. Saturday is Indulgence Day, so this is the day where I will eat a lot more than normal.

Sunday: MASSIVE weight gain. Up to 5-6 lbs sometimes. Don't panic! :)

Monday: Sometimes (often) a little further weight gain.

Tuesday: Stabil weight, or a little loss.

Wednesday: Often (but not necessarily) a little loss.

Thursday: Usually weight loss.

Friday: Some weight loss.

Saturday: Massive weight loss, and usually a new low.

As you can see, there are several days where nothing will happen. This will often make me doubt if I am doing right. I simply trust that if I know I did right on my RDI, then I DID to right. Just keep going. Results (almost) always shows. Steady as she goes, Captain. :)

So, today is Valentine's Day. Wife and I will go shop for something to make a nice (but reasonably healthy and certainly within RDI) dinner, and have a nice evening. I'll be looking forward to it all day.

You guys know how nuts I am about Wife.

What are YOU guys doing for Valentine's?

Today I am thankful for:

- A full night's sleep!
- A well made cup of morning coffee!
- A general feel-good vibe within me.
- A nice Valentine's evening coming up.
- You guys!

Have a great day, and Happy Valentine's! Life is good!

Great willpower King :-). We exchanged cards and tonight will have a special meal - I got some fillet steak (one of hubbies favourites). We will have it with, a few big chunky chips, mushrooms, onion, tomato and a side salad (I probably won't have the chips). Then we will settle down to watch tv - Tuesdays is a good night :-)

Good job king. Nothing says love like a picture of a Zombie eating flesh, thats what I say... Hehe. Glad your feeling well. Enjoy your evening, we have civil unrest here again (Today is the Anniversary of that), so our valentines plans are for the weekend (hopefully).

Great job all around, King. I guess "control"was the operative word in your journal (or was it "wife"). LOL. maybe both. Have a wonderful Valentine's evening with your honey.

Love your journal ... as always. Thank you for posting the breakdown of what happens to you thruout the week. I have seen people freakout in the Tuesday awareness that their indulgence cost them bigtime!!! And then they abandon their plan... and figure it didn't work. If you're going to put your trust in this to actually work... you have to give it a couple of weeks, and see how your body is responding to this 'indulgence' day in the long run! So I was really happy to see you go over it again. Enjoy time w/ Wife today!

jafantome - I think this goes with EVERYTHING we do when it comes to dieting. If we don't give it AT LEAST a few weeks, then we learn nothing. It's sooooo hard to just let go and trust it, but we need to simply wait and see what happens, or we won't ever get there. I've had the Tuesday panic myself many times, it freaks me out still now and then. However, I do see results BY FAR the most weeks, if I stick to the plan.

Plans for the day? Did my workout, now at work, then dinner and rehearsal. For the single gal, it's just another day. On the plus side, I'm not in danger of receiving a box of chocolates! Hope all you non-single folks get to spend some quality time with your love ones. KK, thanks for the breakdown of your post-indulgence weight patterns- very interesting to see that the process takes a full week and I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I go way over my calorie count! As jsfantome points out, it's easy to feel very discouraged by midweek that one day apparently did so much damage, but you have to have patience.

Hahaha your zombie Valentine almost made me choke on my water... Very nice, Keld... :) My boyfriend and I are not celebrating Valentine's day until Thursday - he is coaching bball tonight, I had vball league last night and have it again tomorrow night, so Thursday's our day.. not sure what he has planned and I'm going to leave it up to him! Glad you got a great night's sleep - I need to get more 8 hour nights... ¡Feliz día de San Valentin!

Thanks for the indulgence day info. Hope you enjoyed the time with your wife! I'm glad that work is going well for you. Also, way to go on putting the chocolate back- that shows dedication like nothing else does. :)

GO YOU! Putting the chocolate back is HUGE! Thanks for breaking down your weight fluctuation. I'm too scared to weigh in that often b/c of the ups and down. It discourages me to the point of distruction. So cool that you can workout at home. I'm sure your fam likes having you there and exercising than at the gym where they can't see and talk to you. Have a great V Day with wifey.
