kingkeld's Journal, 09 February 2012

Now, that's better. I slept a full 9 hours! I feel rested like I haven't felt rested in a LONG time, ready to take on work and everything else that life throws at me today (which hopefully isn't a whole lot! LOL!)

I was seriously crashing at the end of the day yesterday, so I decided to skip the gym and go for the slightly less intense ride on my exercise bike instead. I did two times thirty minutes throughout the afternoon and evening, and it felt good to not entirely skip exercising, though I did feel that I skipped out a little.

The meeting yesterday went really well. I was very nervous about this one, and it's been messing with my head lately. It's amazing how one case can get to you. I got it done, though, and even if the outcome result is probably not too positive looking, it's still cleared away in my head. I'm glad I got it done, I am glad my work mentor was able to help me through it, and I am ready to move forward on both this case and others.

Yesterday was generally tough to get through. I slept super bad, probably because of the case, and was stressing quite some over it. After the meeting I was totally worn out both mentally and physically, and decided to just take it easy the rest of the day.

I went home 30 minutes early, got on the bike, while chit chatting with Wife, and just enjoyed being home and relaxing. We watched the new episode of Alcatraz while I was biking.

So, in the evening, after dinner, we saw the new Fox show The River. For those buddies of mine who like mystery/horror movies, I highly recommend getting on this boat (pun intended)! It was a great show, Wife and I really like it. I got on the bike for my 2nd 30 minute session while watching it,

Afterwards, I sat down to enjoy the rest of the show from Daddy's chair, with Kitty all snuggled up in my lap, and within 30 minutes I was fast asleep. I guess I really need to watch the show again, as Wife this morning was mentioning many little things from it that I have no recollection of. :)

It'll be on Tabby for the next workout, I think.

Today, it's gonna be another busy, but I think very enjoyable, day at work. I have several meetings and interviews, and even if it's a long day, there is something going on all the time. I think it'll fly by fast and easy. Of course, having slept helps me a lot.

So, how is the weight today? Not as good as yesterday, I'm afraid. I gained a little bit, but I think it's just a temporary thing. It does bother me, as I'd like to see a good Saturday result, and I am not sure I can make it.

Yesterday I walked to the post office to pick up several packages that were shipped to me:

1. Some cool new t-shirts, that came with a pleasant, though inconvenient surprise. I have ordered all the shirts in size medium, but it turns out that there is a SIGNIFICANT size difference in US medium and European medium. This means that three out of four shirts are actually too large for my taste. That sucks, but at the same time it's pretty cool for me to realize that I used to be US 3X and I am now Euro medium. I guess I'll have to start shopping one place only online, and work out their sizes.

2. New movies and music! Yaaaaa! I got the Alien Quadrilogy on blu-ray. These are some of my favorite movies, and they as always rock. I'll be looking forward to watching them in hi-def.
I also got a brand new concert disk from Styx (remember them?), where they play two of their classic albums in their entirety. They still sound awesome and vibrant, and it's a real joy to hear. As a matter of fact, I'm watching it right now. Love it! This is one that will be played MANY times, I think.

3. Chillies!
I got a shipment from my favorite chili supplier!
I got new hot sauces - several different ones. One is called "10 minute burn", and even as hard core as I am when it comes to chili, this one is hard to handle. This one, if not done right, will literally hurt! Ouch. Of course, I love it.

...and here comes the potential weight gain since yesterday:

In the box was also "Deadly Hot Nuts", salted peanuts with extremely hot chili. I brought a little can to work, thinking that I could have a few through the day, but somehow they all managed to disappear!

This not only meant that I went a few hundred calories over - which I am not too worried about, as I also did some exercise and still have a calorie deficit, but I also had what felt like a LOT of salt. I'm thinking that this is the culprit.

When I weighed in on my smart smart scale this morning, I was back to getting the "Out of bounds" error, which indicates that numbers are weird. This is usually when my fat percentage is strangely low. So I am assuming that this is the case. Shed the salt, shed the water, lose the weight. I hope I make it before Saturday morning. It's crazy how that salt can affect our weight. At least it only makes us put on water weight, not fat. LOL!

So, as mentioned, today is my longer day at work - I am there until 5 PM, so I will not go to the gym today. This is a day that is more dedicated to work, but I do have a plan to get on the bike tonight, for at least 30 minutes, and after writing this journal I will do thirty minutes too.

I find that 30 minutes is a good little journey, as it's not too long time to really take away from anything else, but it's also enough that I see a "significant" amount of calories burned. It's worth the effort.

Today, I'm thankful for:
- Styx still rockin'! :)
- Having slept 9 hours - like a wee baby!
- A positive outlook for the day.
- The best morning coffee in days!

My buddy Katiekinz deserves a mention today! She wrote in the comments on my journal yesterday that she bought chocolate and tossed the last third of it away thinking "WWKKD?". That made me laugh out loud, and literally - LITERALLY - snort out coffee! Thanks Katie! So, does that mean I am bigger than John Lennon? I know I used to be bigger than him. He was never 155 kgs. LOL.

I hope you have a great day, my friends. I know mine will be awesome! Life is good!

Hehe, long one today! Which Styx video did you get? I love music video's, although training myself to not drink beer in front of them is tough. You know many studies suggest 30 mins a day is all you need, some of them 20 in fact. But I know your hardcore! :-)

LOL, JP - I do NOT see myself as hardcore in ANY kind of way. I have to REALLY convince myself to get my butt going every time. The Styx video is a brand new one. "The Grand Illusion and Pieces Of Eight Live". I think it's a 2011 concert - great performance, great music, great sound. It comes highly recommended from me. I have no idea whether this is the original lineup or not, but the performance is excellent. Honestly, I've been listening to the old albums as a "warm up" for this, and I feel that the vibe is better live 2011. :) Styx fans may hate me for saying this. LOL.

It's good that tiny weight gains still get your full attention. I like the idea of a tshirt that says WWKKD !! Or a fridge magnet!!!

Great job on the no. of hours you slept - you must have really needed to catch up. Wise move not going to the gym - sometimes we just have to listen to our body, and give it a break :-). How annoying that the Tshirts are a little big, hope you can send them back. US and Europe and UK sizes are sooooo different - you DEFINATELY need to look up the measurements, BEFORE purchasing. Added that, different manufacturers vary too - so difficult when buying on line..... Which is why I only buy stuff from the UK, such a hassle sending back otherwise - and I really don't like wearing stuff that is too big. After all, we have worked hard loosing weight - why hide it under baggy clothes LOL

I don't see myself returning any of it - I like the shirts, and I can live with them being a little on the larger size. If it starts bothering me, I'll pass them off to Wife - she might be able to use them. I just gotta be a little more alert of this another time.

That's one of the things I love about American sizes!!! I can buy a size small. That feels nice even if I know I'm probably more of a medium!! LOL

Thanks for the info King. I have been building my music collection lately on classic rock. I even downloaded some Beatles, which for me is a stretch. I will check out that DVD or Blu-Ray. PS, I can provide an address for all your big clothes ^^.

Good deal that you got your rest. It makes a world of difference, doesn't it? I saw Katie's WWKKD comment. I thought it was pretty funny too. Enjoy your day and your chilis.

JP, sadly at the COOL big clothes is already handed off. You'd have liked it... many shirts from Black Sabbath, Rush, Sammy Hagar, Kiss and what have you. But, of course, you have no need for 2XL... not for long, anyways. :D

Always great when clothes are too big!!! Glad to hear you slept well last night, and that the meeting went better than expected - that's always a plus. I've been meaning to watch Alcatraz, but keep forgetting about it. Hopefully I can catch it OnDemand, I'll have to check out The River too. Have you seen American Horror Story? I think it's on Fox, kind of a freaky show. I recently bought a body fat scale and as soon as I used it, my body fat percentage registered... logged my mother in as User 2, and it wouldn't work. She has dry feet, she moistened her feet & now it works (a tip I found on google). That might not apply to your scale, but I thought it was funny that it made a difference. Just this morning, I had to do the same thing. Darn thing. Anywho, love chilies, hot food in general, though 10 minute burn sounds a little intimidating! Enjoy work today & thanks for the mention lol!!

You know, the stress of that meeting could have helped in the gain, or lack of loss. Stress is a big factor, too. Good that you got some exercise. WE LOOOOVE STYX!! Grand Illusion was my #1 fave, followed closely by Cornerstone. Mr. Roboto is a guilty-albeit cheesy-pleasure. I heard a song of theirs on the radio in the car yesterday, and your post just solidifies me getting the CD out. (CD, what's that?? LOL) Have a great day!!

Strangely, I now have two live shows from Styx, and in none of them they play Mr. Roboto! isn't that weird? I wonder if it's too tacky for them? Personally, I think it's a fun song. Oh, and I will definitely try the wet feet trick.
