Well, a brief foray into 'lo-carb, hi-fat' has seen me gain a lb so I think I'll give that a rest! Back to what worked for me before, strict adherence to calorie intake and sod where those calories come from!
I'm not knocking any sort of diet - but I do think different things work for different people, and for me this is the way to go.
so coffee, not so many snacks, proper meals. Measured portions. (good - I missed carbs like you wouldn't believe)

I am with you on the lo-carb/high-fat diet. It wouldn't work for me! I need fuel and fibre to function. Calorie counting works for me!

It just goes to show that there is no "one size fits all" approach to weight loss.

Apparently, eating carbs at breakfast and lunch but not in the evening works well, that way the carbs get burnt during the day and aren't going to get deposited as fat overnight. Not tried it myself yet, not organised enough!! I find myself craving carbs especially during the winter months - almost addicted to them, so I understand what you mean. Good luck

Hi lulu. Sorry to take ages to reply. i agree with you about eating carbs early in the day when you need the energy to see you through the day. Then protein in the evenings so your body can use it to repair at night.
