kingkeld's Journal, 06 January 2012

It's Friday, and finally the end of a LONG first work week of 2012. I did okay though, and I am up to day on all work work - the little I do have left to do will be done when I go in early in about 30 minutes.

I'm working early today, and I have a lot of thing planned for the afternoon:

- Lunch with wife,
- A private interview on my little future venture (which I STILL hope to announce here sometime, just not fully yet)
- A "show" with a motivational speaker
- Dinner
- Practice with the band.

On top of this I'm still suffering from a mean and angry cold, that is doing what it can to make me NOT able to focus on things. Man, it sucks. :/

My head feels like it's about to explode like a balloon, and every inch of my body is sore. What a day to have all this going on. Oh, well. Life goes on, right?

I'm very curious about the motivational speaker. He's hired by our employer to do the show, but it's an "outside work" thing, for which we could sign up to go see for free, if we feel like it. I don't know the guy, but supposedly he's pretty famous in Denmark. He talks about healthy lifestyles, exercise, motivation in your work place, and potentially, weight loss. I'm curious if he can bring something new to the table for me.

I did get through the unpleasant interview yesterday. It's always hard to do these, but I think we had a good understanding of each other, and we moved past it fairly easy. It's always hard when you have to make decisions that can affect people's life in a negative ways. Sometimes we really want to act with your heart, but there is this little thing called "the law" that gets in the way. I help a lot of people, using the law and the rules, but sometimes it's just not possible. I'm thankful that he could understand why things are as they are.

My scale is still acting up. Half the times I go on, I get an error, and as I checked the manual for it, it's supposedly "out of bounds" on some of the weigh-in data. Maybe I finally got a fat percentage under 0? LOL. The scale is doing weird things.

I still have my old scale, and it hasn't been used for ages. I tried it to day, to see if there was a significant difference. When I got the new one, they would measure exactly the same weight. Now, there is more than a kg difference. The old scale has been standing up, not lying down. I wonder if that makes a difference? The big question is, of course, which one is now right? I think I'm just gonna forget about the old scale and keep going. It's a little bit concerning though, if my every day scale keeps messing up I will have to get a new one, and I wonder what THAT one will show. We'll see.

Today is gonna be another short journal. My head is simply not up to anything very interesting or profound. I feel sick, and I want to NOT go to work and I just want to stay at home, under the covers.

I will write again tomorrow, hopefully with a little more energy.

Cold or not,

Good Job King! Glad its your Friday and you can soon get some rest. Whenever I think of motivational speakers I think of Chris Farley's "Matt Foley" character, lol. "I live in a van down by the river!". Hehe, have fun.

sometimes scales are very weird...so was my old, too. once i stand on it and i was happy: because i've lost about 5kg in a week. but i couldn't believe it and then i stood on it again and the result was, that i have gained 2kg in 1 week...so de difference of two weigh in was 7kg! i tried it with a new battery but i didn't worked so i bought a new one...and that one is better - and hopefully it will be that way :) have a great day and hope you're getting well soon!

:-( for not feeling tip top.... hope it passes soon. A motivational speaker - fantastic. I do hope they are a good one. I seen quite a few (we used to have them as one of the "turns" at conferences I had to attend). I remember one - she was an Olympic Gold runner - brilliant. She explained to us about "visualising success". Briefly thestory went, she wasn't doing to good, her timings were crap. She then started visualising running the race, how it would feel, how she would run, then going through the finishing line 1st. She did this a number of times during the day. On the big day, it went just as her visualisation had. A lot of the "lifestyle coaches" use this method - eg imagine yourself 2 stone lighter, what you will look like, how you will feel etc. Anyway...... hope you have a good day - practise with the band with a sore head!?!?!?! ouch... although I bet you will perk up :-)

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during your show, especially if he ends with questions from the audience. Hope you feel better soon xx

@Sk1nny - it sounds kind of like "The Secret". Have you heard of that? I think I'll make a little blurp on that one of these days. There's a lot of GOOD information in there.

Hey Keld, sorry to hear you're still not feeling up to par. Hope you feel better soon. Why don't you weigh at the gym to get an idea of the delta on your scale? There are always scales around gyms, although you may have to subtract a pound or so, if you're used to weighing in the altogether. The motivational speaker sounds interesting. Can't wait to read the journal after you hear the lecture. Feel better and have a fab day.

I do hope you feel better tomorrow, and your scales do, too, ready for your Saturday weigh-in!

Hope you're back on track soon...as far as the scale dilemma goes - just take the average of both for now until you figure out what's going on! Have a great weekend! ;)

King, I'm so in sympathy with your cold. I have the luxury of staying home with mine. I hate it when the scale goes wonky. I know you've already though of something as simple as the battery. I'm glad the "interview" was not as harrowing as you expected, but I'm sure you still would rather not have had to do it. Get well fast and enjoy your weekend as much as you can. I'll be thinking of you as I do my breathing treatments. :-)
