kingkeld's Journal, 21 December 2011

It's that time of year again. The time where Kingkeld reaches a new low! :) Yup, it's only Wednesday, and I have until Saturday to reach a new low before Indulgence Day, and here we are. I weighed in at 82.2 kgs - that's 1.1 kg down since yesterday. Now, I am prepared for a day or two of higher weigh-ins, but I am really hoping for a good, low one on Saturday. I am I am determined to make it.

My legs are still hurting from my attempt to jog on Monday. They're better though, but I am not sure if I am up for more jogging at my workout session at the gym this afternoon. I am heavily debating if I should go back to what I usually do (which is walk with running spurts), or if I should jog again. I thought it was AWESOME that I could do it and I am really motivated to do it again. I'm just not too motivated to have my thighs aching for days! LOL. I try to stretch afterwards, but it didn't help too much.

Yesterday, my buddy Sunrise wrote something that really struck a chord with me:

"As the year is drawing to a close, I am so grateful that "go on a diet" won't be on my list of half-hearted New Year's resolutions. There is always a certain amount of dread to New Year's because I realize that another year has passed and I didn't do anything about my weight. This year will be different! By Jan 1, I should be down a grand total of 30 pounds, maybe more. Of course, I will still have a long way to go, but instead of resolving to start a diet, I will be celebrating the progress I've already made and looking forward to reaching my goal in 2012!"

It gave me a total epiphany reading this journal entry. She's absolutely RIGHT! I am sure we ALL have this New Year's resolution. I am sure we all keep saying it - knowing that we're not really gonna do it. I'm sure when we say it, everyone around us know that we won't really do anything about it, just like they're not gonna quit smoking, they're not gonna find a better job, they're not gonna tell the girl that they're crazy about her. We all say that we're gonna do something, but it's really more of a wish for things to just happen for us. This time it's different. We ARE doing something for us, and we are succeeding doing it!

Thanks to Sunrise for planting this thought in my head. It made my day - and I hope it will make yours too!

Yesterday was last rock session with the kids this year. We had some good fun, just teaching them some cool guitar riffs from some of their favorite songs. It was a real challenge, as I didn't know all the songs and had to work it out on-the-fly, but I think I did okay. It was fun. I'll be back with them again first Tuesday in January.

Today I will be playing catch-up and work, and ensure that I don't generate more work. I am keen on taking some of Friday off, maybe all of it, so I really want a clean desk for the holidays. That's a mission this week.

Today I am thankful for
- getting up early and doing my exercises. They're such an awesome morning energy booster, and I am almost ready to go to work at 6 am. I can put in a couple of hours of comp time, so I can take off Friday without it costing me anything. Nice. :)
- Coffee!
- Being able to (mostly) resist all the cookies and candy at work.
- Having to buy just one more Christmas present for Wife.
- A new low today - very unexpected!

Have a great Wednesday, my friends! Life is good!

Here, here to a "no diet" New Year's Resolution this year!!! Congrats on the new low ... awesome buddy!!! Had to check on you before I went off to bed for the night ... it is still December 20th here for a few more hours!!! I'm hoping, hoping, hoping for a nice number on my scale in the morning too!!! Time will tell. The important thing is that I know I am doing what I need to be doing ... and my body WILL find its way to the weight it wants to be at to be my healthiest self. Have a great day!!! What is "bami goreng"? LOL!!!

WOO HOO on the unexpected weight drop! Your jogging and daily exercise routines are really paying off! WTG! I am pleased as punch for you! It's still night here and I have to tell you what I've been up to before I retire for the evening. I went to your blog and read up on your Indulgence Diet plan. It was very straightforward and made sense. I can see how I can lose weight doing that ... the calories are really quite low and the Indulgence Day will fool the brain. LOL! I think I might give this a try. Staying under the daily calories would require some real discipline on my part. Am I up for it? LOL! I am such an unruly person. I am going to wait until after Christmas to be fair to the plan... and I am going for it. Once I set my mind to this, it will be done. Thanks!!! Have a great Wednesday!!

Wow, you're REALLY checking up on me, huh Moose? LOL. I appreciate that. Bami Goreng is an (I believe) Indian dish. This version is the easy, frozen one that you toss into a pot and heat. It's really good though. Pasta with a bunch of vegetables, chicken breast, spices (curry etc). Very yummi, easy to cook and reasonable on calories.

Correction: Bami Goreng is Indonesian. My bad.

Mom2 - Thanks for checking out the blog! I appreciate it. Sure, you will go low on calories for the 6 days, but I think it's easier when you have "something to look forward to" on the 7th day. If you do start on it, please keep me posted on progress. I like to gather the info and hear if this generally works or not.

Congrats on your new low King! Glad your legs are feeling better too! I like yours and Sunrise's outlook on the new year too. I used to never make resolutions, so I did not have to beat myself up over not meeting them. This new lifestyle makes it easier to stick to it, and really gets away from it being a short fad such as a resolution you know you will eventually break. (Another reason I dont like resolutions). Who knows, maybe this year I will make a resolution. XD

Sunrise's post struck a chord with me, too. I love your journal and your buddies cos mostly they're so positive - just generally journal-browsing in my first week here I came across a lot of moaners and complainers and that's the last thing I need. So thanks for the upbeat and congrats on the new low - it always stuns me that you have lost almost half your body weight! But, 5 kilos or 50(or more), both need determination and motivation and that's what I'm getting from you and your buddies. Thank you so much :D

Such an awesome thought (new year resolution). I hadn't thought of it either. You are so right, we can goinro the New Year thinking / knowing we have suceeded in conquering the "weight" issue :-). congrats on the weight loss..... I don't blame you for not wanting sore legs in the next few days, I am feeling a bit the same. It doesn't do any harm to "slow" it down a bit every now and then... As long as you don't come to a standstill :-)

Keld, I'd say walk with spurts of jogging is your best bet. I'll be perched in front of my computer for your new low on Saturday. Have a great remainder of the week.

You know... you're ALL part of my little "Band of Losers" here on FatSecret, and I just love hanging with you guys. Just like Earthlady mentioned, there IS a lot of moaners and groaners around, and they can sometimes bring you down if you don't have the right mindset. Our little band is full of positive energy and I truly believe that this leads to success! We have the attitude, and with that comes will power! This means we WILL succees. The best thing about it that it rubs off on the doubters. Once they see what we're doing, they want to join and have that positive energy too. Then they will get into it and succeed. What's there to NOT like about this? :)

Congrats on that new low. Your friend Sunrise is so right...I tend to look at what I still have to lose and lose sight of the fact that I am still 60 pounds lighter than I was when I started this journey. So I will celebrate my successes and not berate myself for not being where I want to be...just yet. I will get there in 2012. Have a great day, King, and again, congrats on that new low!

Yes, Sunrise definitely hit on a great thought there. Thanks both of you for the post.
