I LOVE(D) m & m's. Especially the peanut and peanut butter ones. I used to buy big bags of each and in the evening get a bowl and mix the m & m's together and eat eat eat. I stopped THAT by not buying anymore. Not having them in the house. Made it much easier to resist when there wasn't any.... Good luck with your fast!

You can whip that addiction, Wannab! Keep your handle in mind when they beckon you, and tell them, "I love you, but I wannabhealthier! And YOU are poison."

Have you ever tried Carob nibs or Belgian dark chocolate (70%)? M&Ms are pretty much the junky chocolate with that artificial colored, surgery coating. The dark chocolate would provide you with some nutrition and not just a mouthful of sugar. M&Ms are like Lays potato chips.......just can't eat one. :( The Belgians swear by their dark chocolate. My husband eats a small piece daily. I can't eat it anymore because of the caffeine in the chocolate, but I can tell you there is nothing like a piece of Belgian chocolate. It's like nothing that I've ever tasted in my life. Mmmm.

The worst thing you can do when trying to lose weight is to eat small amounts of sugar throughout the day. This is why...in order to burn fat your body has to need more sugar in the blood to keep the level right. When your blood sugar goes down the body begins to turn fat into sugar to correct for the low blood sugar. If you continually add sugar to the blood with small doses you will never burn any fat. Even if you do not consume that many calories. Also when the body burns the sugar you eat you will immediately crave more before the body starts to convert fat to sugar. However, when your body starts to convert fat to sugar it is better at keeping the sugar in your blood at an even state. After a few days your cravings will diminish significantly due to your bodies natural ability to convert fat to sugar at a steady pace. Once you get your body into that state you will burn fat around the clock even without a lot of exercise. You just have to eliminate the outside source of sugar and carbohydrates completely!! I also would not recommend a fast of just water it is not a long term solution. It will be much easier to stay off the sugar with a healthy high fiber, moderate protein, low to no carb diet. Trying to jump start a diet by completely starving yourself for a day is only going to make you think you deserve a reward of M&M's when you start eating again!!

Be strong Wannabhealthier. I know it's hard, I have that same sugar craving, especially for chocolate. But when I see the damage it does after I consume that stuff it helps me kick the habit. If you are going to have it try dark chocolate and some almonds or other healthier alternatives and see if that satisfies your cravings. Good luck to you don't lose ground after all of that hard work.
