kingkeld's Journal, 16 November 2011

I lost another 600 grams of the re-gained weight after Indulgence Day. I'm glad to see the weight coming off again - though I knew it would as it's always like this through the week - and I am starting to become confident that I will reach a nice, new low at the end of the week. I'm 1.2 kgs from my lowest, 1.7 kgs from my goal this week- which is 84.9 kgs (or below 85, if you will).

I might even reach better results than normally, as I am skipping Indulgence Day next Saturday. It'll be fun to see what numbers I reach Thursday morning next week, the morning of Thanksgiving and the morning of my Indulgence Day.

It'll be a great day. Wife is actually taking the day off from work to cook up a big nice meal and we're having friends over for dinner.
In Denmark, we don't traditionally have Thanksgiving, as it's not part of our history, but since Wife is American, and I generally like the idea of Thanksgiving too, we celebrate it.

It will be a very diverse group of people here. We will have friends from here (Denmark) along with fellow Americans, a friend from Holland and a girl from Iran. Iranian girl is dying to try out an American Thanksgiving. I'm curious how she likes it.
Wife is gonna cook up her version of Thanksgiving, the way it's done in her family and with her own adjustments to it.

Yesterday, rocking with the kids went great! We started off with Smoke on the Water, and they were completely SOLD on the idea of playing Highway To Hell by AC/DC. We event went to jam Jimi Hendrix' Purple Haze, just for fun. These are such great kids, and tons of fun. They're eager to learn and want to play! Best. Job. Ever.

Work today is (hopefully) also gonna be a walk in the park. I was supposed to go take a class today, but the teacher is out sick, so class is canceled. Too bad, as I love classes. I love feeding my mind and learning new stuff. The good thing is that I have of course now a COMPLETELY empty day in my work calender, and I can play catch-up instead. I have some things in my to-do pile that I can work on instead. I put a bunch of new music on my phone, so I have stuff to listen to at work too.

After work, I'm gonna make a decision whether it's gonna be hitting the gym or if it's gonna be doing the exercise bike at home. It'll be one or the other, depending how my day turns out. I'm considering going in early, to leave early and beat the crowd at the gym. We'll see what happens.

I wonder what actually burns more calories - brisk walking with a little, occansional running (not a lot) or bicycling for the same amount of time? Maybe I should check out the exercise thingamajingy for that here on FS.

It's gonna be a good day!

I hope everyone in FatSecret Land will have an amazing day too!

Life is good!

Firelair - that's actually pretty interesting. Maybe we should do a forum topic and ask (the braver) people to copy their food journal of their Thanksgiving dinner there - so we can all see the choices made. I think it would be interesting to know. Question is, of course, can all the foods be found. Can I find Rice/broccoli/cheese caserole for example?

Re running/ walking. DairyKing posted an interesting article, about calories burnt that included a bit about running -v- brisk walking. At a certain speed brisk walking burns more - which found quite interesting. Here's the link http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-242-304-311-8402-0,00.html

I got the link - thanks SkInny! It's a very interesting read. I just hate that you now make me not only walk, but run! Does a guy ever get a break? :)

I could hear the tunes you named in my head as I read them!!! Sounds like great fun!!! Sounds like you will have quite a feast for your non-traditional Danish Thanksgiving. Looking forward to hearing all about it and your progress this week. Enjoy your "not so busy" work day ... I am envious!!!

FYI.... fat secret does unfortunately have a nutrition input for green bean casserole.. My boyfriend and I cooked an early Thanksgiving dinner last weekend because we won't be able to be together on the actual day. I was astounded after I input it into my food diary! Thanksgiving will DEFINITELY be a cheat day for me as well. ENJOY EVERY BITE OF IT!!
