madaboutmoose's Journal, 20 December 2009

Busy day yesterday. I never turned on the computer. Mom had her miniature club meeting and we took her to it, shopped with all the crazy Christmas crowds, and brought her home. That was a full day. We had one meal out and I treated myself to apple crepes. They were very good but oh so sweet!! I actually didn't eat the whole serving which surprised me.

Weight continues to fluctuate but is still hovering just beneath the blue line which delights me to no end!! I am feeling good about my progress and stronger every day. I have been alternating my elliptical with Pilates. I am able to do just a little bit more of the Pilates each time. Maybe mixing up my exercise routine has helped with the scale. Everyone says it does. Maybe "everyone" is right!

Today is laundry, housework, paying bills, all that fun sort of stuff. I am going to make a couple more loaves of date nut bread too. Hubby wants to take another loaf to work. I guess it was a big hit! I also want to give a loaf to my FIL when I deliver their packages. They won't be coming to our house for Christmas. FIL says his wife "suffers" at our house. Whatever. She has been hard at separating my FIL from us ever since she met him. Snide remarks about our family, she really is a prize. Hard to understand why my FIL chose her for his wife. But, he loves her and so I play "nice" but it isn't easy.

Hubby has picked out some lovely clothes for me for Christmas. I love taking him shopping with me. Of course I know what I am getting but I always enjoy dressing up for him in clothes he loves to see me in. I am even getting a new pair of dress up boots!! He has my outfit all picked out for New Year's Eve ... should be a lot of fun!!

Five things I am grateful for today ...

1. a husband who enjoys spoiling me
2. the weekend!
3. feeling calm about my journey to health
4. being able to set my own prejudices aside
5. a fresh pineapple waiting to be cut up and consumed

Have a nice rest of the weekend!! Let's try to stay calm and enjoy the holiday ahead of us ... whatever happens with the scales happens. Any gains we may have does not mean we have failed ... the journey continues for the rest of our lives!!

LOL! I can't get used to hearing about the miniature club meetings! I keep picturing people sitting on teeny-tiny chairs, sipping from teeny-tiny teacups. :) I am so happy to see you staying under that blue line. You deserve to be pleased! How fun to shop with your husband! I love hearing about your time with him. You sound so sweet together. Enjoy that pineapple! YUM!

Amy you cannot believe all the things those folks make in teeny tiny sizes!!! It would drive me NUTS!!! But Mom loves it!!! Her sister does it too and has for years!! One day I'll have to post a picture of some of her work. It is truly amazing!! Glad I can put a chuckle in your belly!!!

So great about that blue line! I have seen some of that mini stuff posted online--on blogs and on etsy. It really is amazing. I wish I had a crafty side. I am good at reading about and planning projects. I have boxes of it in storage. SOME DAY! Shopping sounds like fun. You deserve it!

OK, tell me...who is FIL? Is that a name, or initials?

I sooooooo look forward to reading your list of five. Number 4 stands as a gentle reminder for me -- especially with my extended family and my work. Thanks for the insight once again!

Apple crepes sound yummy. It's funny you wrote that because I have been craving crepes all weekend. How nice that you are getting some new clothes and boots. What a great hubby. Sounds like you will have a great New Years Eve. You will have to post a picture of you wearing them. It is true what you are saying about the pilates. It gets better and better each time which is really what motivates us. Good for you! Enjoy your day!

doit2it ... FIL is short for father-in-law!! LOL!!! Jessy ... no snow ... just rain!! It is much better to shop with your honey for the clothing gifts ... they fit and you know you will like it!! I've had the other experience too ... and I HATE exchanging things at the store!!
