RkTkFx's Journal, 10 January 2016

So when I weigh myself daily, the scale can go up or down. It's very easy for me to let my happiness be tied to the direction the scale happens to go on any given day. What I'm trying to do now, is watch my highs and lows. As long as my current high is lower than my previous highs and my low is lower than my previous lows, I'm trending in the right direction.
164.0 lb Lost so far: 30.0 lb.    Still to go: 9.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I weigh daily, usually only record it weekly. It gives a clearer picture of the trend. I regard the daily weighings as entertainment and motivation, not to be taken seriously. If you just plot out your weekly weights now on paper, you'll be smiling, I'm sure!

There will always be up and downs, just as long as the downs are more frequent than the ups. you got this.

I'm a proponent of weekly logging for that reason. It is frequent enough to keep you motivated and long enough to show some trend. As you are experiencing daily weight can fluctuate dramatically. I try to weigh Sat morning before I had anything to eat or drink and after taking care of "business" - that way I am as empty as I can be. I want to keep the impact of food and waste to a minimum. Good luck, and keep on working it

Well said. Good job.

Weighing once a week is often enough. That way you don't have to deal with daily scale fluctuations. I always first thing in the morning on Monday just like Mattstoc does. Remember even an 8 ounce glass of water weighs 8 ounces! That is 1/2 pound.

I read a book over xmas and not a diet book it was called "Russing womens syndrome" and one of the quotes from it was "when you weigh yourself your just weighing your self esteem, if you have to count food count nutrients not calories' not that I am about to stop weighing in but it does make sence you cant gain 3kgs of fat over a day but you can retain 3kgs of fluid.

I used to weigh once a week and that was great. Then I started weighing everyday and I was obsessed with the scale. I now have been jumping on the scale twice a week. Not great. So, back to Monday morning weigh ins before coffee or anything. Fluctuations are maddening.

I can relate... --happiness relative to the scale reading--- I just gave the scale the finger earlier today and swore at it.(as if it were the cause)
