madaboutmoose's Journal, 14 November 2009

I had a snack attack last night and ate until I was full of snacks. My weight was up almost 3 lbs this morning. Oh well. You who know me well know how easily my weight can fluctuate both up and down. I'm not feeling really guilty about it. It is what it is. It doesn't really mean anything at all except I made a choice to SNACK!!!

Today we went to the dump to get rid of trash, serviced three of our vending machines since hubby is now on a 5 day a week schedule instead of 4 ten hour days, and ate at our favorite taco stand in town. They had grilled mahi-mahi tacos that were incredible!! They have the best Mexican food in town ... Joel's is actually a Hispanic owned little place so their food is "real" Mexican food. I hadn't eaten there in a long time ... it was almost as good as being back in Mexico!!

I'm starting to cook more again. As mom and I both are close to maintenance range it is time to do a little cooking. During the week I tend to rely on frozen dinners ... it is quick and easy. Unfortunately I'm tired when I get home and so we do "easy" during the week. But on the weekends ... no reason to not cook!! At least some of the time. I know this will delight my husband who has been ever so patient with our weight loss journey.

It finally SNOWED!!! Just a couple of inches but it is SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I love when the pine trees are frosted with snow. I'm still getting used to the colder weather though ... but I like it. However, I've discovered many of my "winter" clothes are too big!!! ARGH!!! I certainly have enough to get by. I have mixed feelings though about clothes I can no longer wear. It is exciting in one way but I'm not feeling like spending much money on clothes these days and some of those things I really liked!! LOL!!! Just never satisfied!!

My five for today ...

1. Sleeping in!!!
2. Sleeping all night without waking up!!
3. Reminiscing with hubby about our recent vacation ... we both so enjoyed the change in routine and each other!!
4. A relative clean house
5. My warm, supportive family

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Aw, I have been snacky too. It's this weather. Funny about the clothes. I am too small for most of my jeans but I also don't feel like spending $ on clothes. Nice that you guys reminisced. I hate when you come back from vacation and then five days later you forget you even went. Nice that you did that together. And important. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, too!

Oh and I love fish tacos. I have some mahi mahi in the freezer and I plan to make them this week. If I get around to it. Though, of course, not as good as an "authentic" taco. Still, good stuff.

Beets ... who says you can't make an authentic fish taco??? I bet you are a really good cook ... just need some shredded cabbage, cilantro, good salsa ... corn tortillas ... you can do it!!!

I love looking at a fresh blanket of snow! Enjoy! I've been snacky, too, with the same result on the scale. There are some good clothes finds at the thrift shops, if you want to save money! :)

I've been having snack attacks for the last two weeks! LOL. I know how you're feeling. Glad you're not feeling guilty about it. Just move on, right? :-)

Time for Macy's!?!? lol I know what you mean about spending, but you deserve it girl. Clothes has an expiration anyway, so find good deals and treat yourself. Good advice on the fish tacos to beets btw!

You always have a good, healthy perspective on food. Speaking of Mexican, I just had it again last night. My husband drove the boys and I there unexpectedly after church and I was HUNGRY when we went! Ooooh, I know what you mean about good Mexican food. I can never resist! As for the clothes, when I was losing my weight I went to a thrift store and found lots of "in-between" clothes for a fraction of the price. It helped a lot! I am so frugal and hate the idea of paying $60 for jeans that I won't wear very long. :)

I am jealous of your beautiful snow. Sigh! I want snow too - but I want it when I want it. Know what I mean? We will be driving through the mountains in 4 weeks. I DON"T want it then. I soooooo relate to Number 2 on your list of 5. Isn't that an awesome feeling to have "slept through the night." With age life moves in a cycle - huh! Remember when our children were infants and others asked, "Is he (she) sleeping through the night?" Have a great GUILTLESS day!

I loved your journal so much. Especially knowing that you are not beating yourself up over your snack attack. I am thrilled for you to be in such a good place. Mexican food is what I had last night also! But your fish sounds so much better than the ground turkey I substituted. Yummy meal. Also, love your five. Reminds me to be thankful for family. Happy to hear that you slept! Send some snow my way. I am ready!

Yeah, twilightmom, I hear you on the "in-between" clothes. I am thinking of hitting MArshall's/TJ MAxx. They always seem to have lots of varieties of those Seven jeans for $20. I DESPISE shopping ad trying on clothes but my husband is telling me I NEED new pants. He is threatening to throw away my yoga pants. I lived in a few pairs during my pregnancy and afterwards when I was 30 lbs heavier than I am now. Suffice it to say, they are not the most flattering items of clothing. And thank you, Moose, I am a pretty good cook. Haha. At the beach near my parents', we get fish tacos at a Mexican place run by a Mexican family and their tacos are so simple, fresh and good--just fish or chicken, cilantro, lime and a tiny bit of green salsa on homemade tortillas.

I have horrid luck at thrift shops ... I rarely find things to buy ... I don't know why!! Macy's is definitely my friend Cindy ... she knows me so well by now!!! I'm just going to wear some baggy clothes and deal with it. After all it is WINTER!!! Coats and layers work. I did buy a new undergarment though ... holy smokes ... I'm well supported now!!! LOL!!!

;) yay, on the new support, I need me some of those!

Hey Cindy ... I DID go to Macy's!!! Found a pair of Calvin Klein jeans that fit GREAT for under $17.00 and another pair of dark gray corduroy pants for $9.00 ... WOOT! WOOT!! Also bought an $85 purse (like I would EVER spend that much on a purse) for $20!!! Lifted my spirits quite a bit!!! I found a couple of warm vests inexpensive too ... oh I LOVE a good sale at Macy's and the time to actually shop!!

Wow. Quite a shopping trip. See I would love all that new stuff but only if someone could shop for it for me.
